Counting in Maori Presentation Transcript

  • 1. Maori NumbersLearn most of the numbers from 1-10,000. 
  • 2. Numbers 1-10• One= Tahi• Two= Rua• Three= Toru• Four= Wha• Five= Rima• Six= Ono• Seven= Whitu• Eight= Waru• Nine= Iwa• Ten= Tekau
  • 3. The ‘ma’ rule• For numbers 21-99 you have to always put ‘ma’ after Tekau, Example:• 25= Rua Tekau ma Rima• 82= Waru Tekau ma Rua• 66= Ono Tekau ma Ono• 34= Toru Tekau ma Wha
  • 4. Numbers 20, 30, 40 etc.• Twenty= Rua Tekau• Thirty= Toru Tekau• Forty= Wha Tekau• Fifty= Rima Tekau• Sixty= Ono Tekau• Seventy= Whitu Tekau• Eighty= Waru Tekau• Ninety= Iwa Tekau
  • 5. 100-900• 100= Kotahi Rau• 200= Kotahi Rua• 300= Kotahi Toru• 400= Kotahi Wha• 500= Kotahi Rima• 600= Kotahi Ono• 700= Kotahi Whitu• 800= Kotahi Waru• 900= Kotahi Iwa
  • 6. 1000-9000• 1000= Kotahi Mano• 2000= Kotahi Rua• 3000= Kotahi Toru• 4000= Kotahi Wha• 5000= Kotahi Rima• 6000= Kotahi Ono• 7000= Kotahi Whitu• 8000= Kotahi Waru• 9000= Kotahi Iwa
