7 Natural Wonders Virtual Tour - Presentation Transcript

    1. By Melissa Anderson
    2.  Objective: Students will go on a virtual tour of the 7 natural wonders of the world. They will identify what types of plants and animals are found in those areas and why.  State Core: 2nd Grade Content Core  Standard 3; Objective 1 (a): Observe and describe  relationships between plants and animals.
    3.  The students had previously been learning about plants and animals and where they’re from. They were learning about what plants and animals needed to survive in an environment. Students learned that different areas of the world have different plants and animals.
    4. I made a lesson where we used a Google Earth Virtual Tour of the 7 natural wonders of the world. Each destination was a different natural wonder. With each stop students predicted what type of plants and animals were found in that area. I would then scroll down and show examples of the plants and animals found there. We then discussed why those types of plants and animals would be found there.
    5.  The Grand Canyon  Snakesare found at the Grand Canyon because they Can live in the heat. They eat other small animals found there.
    6. The students were This lesson was   actively involved in taught to the entire this lesson. They 2nd grade. Because of loved seeing the the large number of different areas, kids, it at times got making predictions, out of hand. Students seeing the pictures, were too rowdy. and sharing personal experiences. At the end students were thanking me for the great lesson. What went well? What didn’t go well?
    7. Students Use of Technology: No 1. There was only the teacher computer being used. All  of the students were watching the technology rather than using it themselves. Technology Use is Essential: Yes 2. This lesson would not be possible without technology.  Its unrealistic to talk about the plants and animals found at the 7 wonders without using technology to display them. Focus on Learning Task: Yes 3. The lesson was focused on teaching about plants and  animals. Even though I used technology I did not teach how to use it. Added Value: Yes 4. The technology was very valuable to this lesson.  Without it, the lesson would have been boring and the students would have learned very little.
