Good Morning! Thank you for the opportunity to show how the added value benefits of a Social Media Campaign integrated into the current marketing mix is a win-win for Northwest Technologies and XYZ Ad Agency. Let’s get started!!!
Today we will follow the agenda and I will show you the history of social media, how it has impacted business, the benefits and how to incorporate it into your current marketing strategies. We’ll wrap things up with a brief overview and answer any questions or concerns.
Social Media has changed since it began yet the main purpose is still the same: to communicate with one another. We actually began socializing in 1978 with the Bulletin Board System (BBS) which came in three forms. Dial-up, Telnet, Web-based. Basically the user could send and receive messages via phone and later that year when the first copy of a web browser was distributed BBS were used on the web. By 1994 the first official social network site was formed by Geocities, the idea was to allow users to build their own sites, then a year later theglobe.com expounded on the idea and gave users the capability to personalize their online experience by designing and publishing ones own content as well as interacting with others of same interest. In 1997 AOL introduced instant message (IM) which has evolved into text messaging as well as the traditional IM online. IM is also used in an educational setting as well as social network sites such as Facebook. The numbers are proving it’s a great way to communicate with your customers and build brand loyalty.
Social Media as known in today’s culture is still changing. It started in 2002 with Friendster, which is gaining popularity again in Asia. MySpace followed and then Facebook and Web 2.0 infrastructure was announced. Blogging was tweaked into Twitter, microscopic style. In November 2007, BusinessWeek posted Facebook’s new 3-part ad strategy for businesses. The new strategy included Business to build pages on FB to interact with their target audience; ad system that spreads your brand through FB social ads; and a system to gather information about customers activity that can assist the business with future marketing campaigns. One of the oldest and best forms of advertising has been and still continues to be Word of Mouth. Incorporating a Social Media Campaign into Northwest Technology’s marketing plan is the best way to get the word out at a pace that is accelerating so fast it is hard to fathom. Social Media is developing a strategy for corporations to get involved, these companies are known as SocialCorps, and they are paving the way for this new phenomena of marketing. Utilizing the Internet and Social Media, Northwest Technology will improve control over their brand message, increase the collaboration and conversation about the brand services. (Postman)Social Media is also a super way to build the product brand, again, by word of mouth using Web 2.0 Technologies. Social Media also allows NWT to display authenticity and transparency within their business; both are excellent qualities to possess in this ever changing marketplace. In addition, Social Media generates customer participation and the more they participate the more loyal they become. Last and certainly not least, Social Media provides immediate and relevant information for the consumer and business owner to share, which builds the relationship. (Postman)
The benefits of a Social Media Campaign far outweigh any negative impact it may have on ones business. By using Social Media as a means to marketing you improve your online ranking through more clicks. You can be proactive in building your relationships and generating fans and likes, which will offset any negative feedback. Social Media will help Northwest Technology gain innovative ideas from clients to improve their products and services. Another great benefit is getting an inside perspective of your competitors, studying the competition has always been and will always be a great way to improve business. (Rudman) In addition, customer loyalty soars to new heights as the Northwest Technology Brand climbs right along with it. The only downside of social media marketing is the amount of time invested to obtain the desired results and that’s where our firm can assist. Our level of Social Media Campaign experience exceeds 25+ years.
To integrate Social Media into NWT marketing plan it will require a communication strategy that can tie into the business strategy to define clear objectives. We will want to involve all departments within the corporation, first to educate them on Social Media and then to brainstorm ideas from employees and managers. Next we will generate a Facebook Page, a Twitter ID and LinkedIn account as well as incorporate a blog or forum on the company website in addition to adding video content. Finally our programmer will link all the platforms together to streamline the data to one location. This will be crucial to collect informative data about customers and competitors.
To bring this presentation to a close we covered the origins of social media and what it is today. We discussed the impact it has and continues to have on business. We also looked at the benefits of a Social Media Campaign and finally we discussed the strategy for integrating this very vital campaign into NWT existing marketing plan. XYZ Agency has the expertise to assist Northwest Technology with all the tips, tricks and trade tools of Social Media within the industry. Are there any questions?
