  • 6. Strategy•  How  to:  •  How  do  I  get  this  done?  •  Necesssary  for  consistent  success    But  this  isn’t  usually  the  problem  –  strategies  are  everywhere

Story  -­‐  beliefs  •  Narra8ves  about  what  we  tell  ourselves  •  Whether  we  believe  we  can  or  can’t  we’re  right  •  Types  of  beliefs  •  Beliefs  about  cause  •  Beliefs  about  meaning  •  Beliefs  about  iden8ty    •  What  do  they  do?  •  Filter  the  world  •  Experiences  lead  to  beliefs  e.g.  empowering  or  disempowering  beliefs  then  find  support

Using  the  three  elements  of  long-­‐term  success  with  your  team•  Are  they  ge=ng  the  results?  •  If  not:  what’s  the  problem?    •  Strategy  •  Story  •  State  •  NB  Keep  asking  “what’s  the  problem?”  un8l  to  get  to  the  Root  Cause  •  Analyse  from  the  top  down  –  keep  going  •  Assist  from  the  boSom  up  –  from  the  level  of  the  problem

How  to  use  the  three  elements  of  long-­‐term  success  with  your  team•  Strategy    •  Are  they  u8lising  an  effec8ve  one?  •  Story  •  Empowering  or  disempowering  beliefs:  •  Beliefs  about  cause  •  Beliefs  about  meaning  •  Beliefs  about  iden8ty    •  References  and  incanta8ons  •  State  •  Role  models  -­‐  set  example  –  they  take  their  cues  from  you  •  Refocus  –  through  ques8ons    •  Match  and  mirror  -­‐  empowering  •  Match  and  lead  –  move  from  disempowering  to  empowering

Modelling  –  learning  from  the  best•  Finding  people  who  have  done  what  you  want  to  do  –  short-­‐cut  to  success  •  Most  people  look  at  what  they  did  –  and  they  can’t  replicate  that  •  Effec8ve  modeling  requires  emula8ng:  •  Strategy  –  what  they  did  •  With  considera8on  of  the  environment  •  Story  –  beliefs  •  Mental  syntax  –  how  they  think  •  State
