Validator Network Solutions

Published on

This presentation is about Mbarc's Validator Network Solution's we offer to configure, control and manage the Mbarc products from one central location on an event basis. This simply means you can schedule ticketing, marketing or loyalty events changing graphics and business logic. Ideally suited for ticketing and/or marketing that are always event based. This means in practice you can manage 1 to 100-s of devices from any PC with web access.

Remember the days you had to install the database on a PC and jump in the car to do access control? We offer simple starting up, simple integration into customers databases, simple overview over the validators. The Validator Network Solutions can be hosted on- and offline and still be controlled from one web-based location.

Validator Network Solutions

 1. 1. mbarc Validator Service Platform (VSP)
 2. 2. what is the VSP

central web-based management software (middleware) for all Mbarc validators for online- or offline- operation

no client software needed

one time integration to your system

complex programming of validator translated into easy functions in online VSP environment

after first connection between validator and VSP all tasks can be managed, scheduled and changed centrally

centrally manage: graphics, functions, lights, speaker, commands to peripherals like printer, etc.

developed for multiple devices on multiple locations running multiple (ticketing/loyalty/marketing) events

 3. 3. no VSP

every customer has to do its own integration

complete debugging path by customer

cannot start with in depth know how of hardware or other integrations (ie. we talk to scanner on command level and remotly can change illumination settings, etc.)

when you want to change functionality of validator you need to updtae software on every terminal

central management of all functions validators to level we offer now is a 12 month / 2 developers integration (we use no Citrix IP but use our own IP)

 4. 4. mbarc validators

Validator is a network input / output device

input:

scan (mobile) barcodes

keyboard input

touch screen input

optional RFID read- and write unit, swipe card reader, etc.

output:

LCD

speaker

lights

 5. 5. mbarc validator design

modular approach based on standardized hardware

unique validator ID

using standard internet communication (through: Ethernet, GPRS or WiFi)

xml messages over HTTP(S) with certificates for security

no scanned data can be lost when connectivity fails

each product has hardware profile for optimizing content on the VSP side

 6. 6. VSP overview
 7. 7. online platform

management interface:

is customers online interface for setup, manage and prepare validators in the field

communication layer:

actual communication between validator’s input- and output devices

business logic:

actual execution of tasks

 8. 8. online platform
 9. 9. integration to external systems

we can virtually integrate into any external system

custom build by Mbarc or by customers IT developers:

SOA

web services

ODBC / JDBC

SOAP

xml

native database connections; Oracle, mysql, microsoft sql etc

 10. 10. management interface

users: user of system who can manage the system

roles, rights and groups: what is user allowed to do within VSP

customers: the VSP handles multiple customers

validators: virtual representative of physical validator

events: events that take place during certain period, validators can be enabled for an event, time slots can be set

 11. 11. communication layer

HTTP(S) over TCP in XML format

RSA certificats

Validators can be located behind HTTP proxies

first communication configuration manually or with program codes

then validator ID will be recognised by VSP and validator assigned to customer, event and optimised content will be loaded into validator

logging incomming log messages

“ ping” between VSP and Validator at regular intervals

after communication layer workflow scanned data is handed off to the business logic

 12. 12. business logic

definition of functionalities of the Validator

intelligent processing connecting functions to ghraphic content, nearly anything possible

following functionalities:

Access databases on other systems using native database adapters.

Call web services directly by using SOAP, XML or REST;

Make Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) calls to an Enterprise Service Bus;

Send email or SMS directly

etc.

 13. 13. offline network solutions

for high volume access control with local database: ie. concerts or events

external login with web interface

same functionalities as VSP

 14. 14. local network software
 15. 15. new functionalities

Now:

Linux console mode in VSP

emulation on standard hardware

IP address

Later:

easy interface to create business logic, upload graphics, etc.

uploading new firmware

Google Earth Map with locations devices
