E1 - part 2

  1. 1. A shot that shows a link between lyrics and/or music and visuals This shot shows a link between lyrics and visuals. As the lyrics states ‘Para-para- paradise..’ we can see on the screen that the elephant in this video which is the main artist/character holds up a poster saying ‘paradise’
  2. 2. A shot that typifies the way a record and company would want their artist to be represented I think this this is a really good shot by COLDPLAY form the song ‘Viva La Vida’ that typifies the way a record and company would want their artist to be represented. It shows all the artists from the band. The camera focuses more on the main artist. This lets the viewers know that he’s the main artist of the band. T
  3. 3. A shot that illustrates how your video uses music genre This shot is from the song ‘Little Lion Man’ by Mumford and Sons. One of the indie/alternative rock conventions is that the music video shows the whole band playing together in one shot.
  4. 4. A shot that shows an intertextual reference This is a shot from ‘here with Me’ by The Killers. It shows an intertextual reference with another music video ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ by The Script.
  5. 5. A shot that demonstrates your use of camera This is shot from ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ by The Script shows a shot that demonstrates your use of camera. The camera was focusing on the artist whilst doing a 180 panning.
  6. 6. A shot that demonstrates your use of lighting This shot from ‘Ni**as In Paris’ by Jay-Z & Kanye West demonstrates a very good use of lighting.
  7. 7. A shot that demonstrates your use of Mise en scene This is a shot from ‘The A Team’ by Ed Sheeran. I thought this demonstrates a good use of Mise en scene as you are able to recognise the location, which is a park and the girl’s costumes.
  8. 8. Two shots which you feel demonstrates something which shows you have watched other music videos This is a close up shot from ‘Viva La Vida’ by Coldplay. It’s a close up shot of the artist playing a guitar. This type of shot is very common amongst the indie rock genre. This close up shot of the artist foot tapping along to the beat is from the music video ‘We Cry’ by The Scrpit.
