  • Obtaining a MathXL Access Code
    • If you bought a USED book, go to www.mathxl.com, click the Buy Now button and follow the on-screen prompts. You may purchase the access code with a credit card.
    • When you purchase the access code online, you will also register in MathXL at the same time.

    #7 Choose an easy to remember password

    #9 GCU’s Zip Code is 85017. After entering the zip code, you will need to select your school from a scroll down menu.
    #10 Choose your security question and answer.
    Click next at the bottom. Save the next page.

    • After you have registered in MathXL, you must then enroll in a specific course..
    • Your instructor will provide you with the course code that you will need to enroll in your math course.

    #3 Select I am taking a course that is using MathXL, and I need to enroll in my instructors course.

    To access your MathXL course, go to www.mathxl.com and log in using your username and password .

    Select an assignment to work on.

    Get Started by Clicking Question 1

    To move to the next question click the next number
    Enter your answer in the text box provided.
    This keypad allows you to choose the symbols/format you need for your answer.

    Click on Check Answer to see if your answer is correct.
    A message will indicate if you have the correct answer. Click on OK. A green checkmark will indicate that you have completed the problem.

    A message will indicate if you have the incorrect answer. MathXL will also provide a clue to solving the problem. Click on Done to try again.

    If you obtain an incorrect answer three times, MathXL will give you the correct answer.
    MathXL will then allow you to work on a similar exercise. You will then have three more attempts to get a correct answer. This process repeats allowing you to work on a problem as many times as necessary to get a correct answer.

    When ready to advance to the next problem, click on the desired number. It is NOT necessary to do the questions in order.
    When ready to stop working, click on save.

    This is the Homework/Test Manager
    Select a quiz to work on.

    When ready to start the quiz, click on “I am ready to start.” Otherwise, click on “cancel.”

    When finished with the quiz, click on “Submit.”
    Once you submit the quiz, there is no going back.
    When you are finished with a question, click on “Next.”
    You may go back and forth between questions in a quiz as long as you
    DO NOT SUBMIT.

    MathXL will confirm that you want to submit the test. If so, click on “Yes.”

    MathXL will then take you to your quiz analysis and score.
  • Quizzes in MathXL
    You may review your quiz results or go to the results page.
  • Grades in MathXL
    Click here to see your grades and information pertaining to each assignment.
  • Grades in MathXL
    The total correct, score, time spent and date worked are shown on the right of the screen.
    Assignments are listed on the left of the screen in chronological order.
  • Quizzes in MathXL
    Each attempt at a quiz will show on the results page but
    ONLY THE HIGHEST SCORE WILL BE RECORDED.
  • Getting Help
    “Help Me Solve This” will guide you step by step through the program to help you understand the rationale. This will not satisfy the question for the assignment. You will be given a similar problem to solve now that you know the steps.
    “Textbook” takes you to the relevant pages in the textbook to review the materials.
    Not all problems will have all options.

    “View an Example” will provide you with a detailed step-by-step example that is completed in entirety with explanations.
    “Ask My Instructor” will email this problem to your instructor along with your written comments..

    You should be at or beyond the red bar at all times. If you are not, you are behind in class.
