  • Creating a mission and vision for your small business cansometimes feel more difficult than any of the other monumentaltasks such as securing funding or developing a product plan. Byestablishing a mission, you are defining the strategy statement foryour company. It is a statement that describes how you will dobusiness. Alternatively, your vision is how your business will lookin the future once your mission has been executed successfully. However, the work doesnt stop with the last word you might typeof your mission or vision. It is important to consistently re-visityour mission statement to ensure that it continues to align withyour vision.@masterbizcoach
  • How Statements ChangeIf your mission statement should be considered dynamic in orderto adjust to the constantly changing business environment. Asyour business progresses, it might be discovered that your team isfalling behind in sales compared to your competitors. You mayfeel that you are lacking the same level of innovation of yourcompetitors and now want to have innovation become the focusof your company goals. It would be ideal to add a component toyour vision that asserts a focus on innovation as well because it isan integral part of how you intend to do business. This would alsohelp to ensure that innovation is at the forefront of your businessstrategy.@masterbizcoach
  • The Danger of ChangeAt times, implementing change is done without the right rootcause analysis. For example, an organization may think that it isinnovation holding their product back from the sales theircompetitors are achieving, but it may in fact be a quality issuewith their product. A good marketing assessment and customerfeedback would have been more ideal in this instance. If acompany altered its mission to focus on innovation, they may stillcontinue to miss the quality component and would effectivelyresult in no added value towards the ultimate vision of thebusiness.@masterbizcoach
  • Driving the right message throughout your business is critical aswell as the only way to ensure you are staying on task. You will behelping your business to stay focused by making it a process tocontinually review your mission or vision.
