    • Schools in the past
      • By: Marianne Latu
    • 3 Facts about 90.s library .
      • The Library was quiet ,no computers, Big cabinets to look up where the books are .
      • It was small but we had a lot of books
      • Our Library had lots of books and we wanted to read them .Our school was really big so we had a huge library .
    • … .Playground …
      • We ate lunch at the classroom ,We also had a choice of walking home and eat lunch there .
      • We didn't have as much toys as now a days .So we played with Marbles or jump ropes.
      • Our playground was a big field ,trees to climb and creek to fish eels
    • Students In class .
      • I had 16 Students in my class.I don’t remember exactly but I think it was about 20 or 30 students
      • Our suburban school was crowded and each class had 30 students ,I started in 1956 with 149 other new beginners ,What a noisy place to be
      • We had 12 students in my class ,Sometimes we would split classes .The Higher Grade ended up with 9 and mines would have 11 .
    • What we learned .?
      • When I was in high school, we actually got to pick which English/Reading classes we wanted to take. I remember one on Greek & Roman mythology. Phonics, typing but not computers. Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Language Arts, Art, Music, Phys. Ed., Health, Current Events
      • We had to learn our spelling .If we made a mistake our teacher would rewrite it with a red pen and make us write it 5-10 times .
      • We did the same old boring spelling, Maths& English ,But no Computors,Tv or Calculator .
    • School Rules .
      • -We didn't have that much rules but when we broke a rule we would see the principal or have detention .
      • -We weren't allowed to chew in class, Or even talk to our neighbours ,We Had to obey our teachers .And If were to naughty we would stand at the principals office with our nose on the wall
      • -Do as the teacher tells you ,Yes we got the Straps .
    • More Info -
      • When I was in school we started everyday with prayer and the teacher read from the Bible. I don't think that's allowed anymore but we did it everyday. Once a week we had assembly. I loved assembly days because we sang lots and lots of really fun songs and I loved to hear the gym filled with that music. I still remember some of those songs and I taught them to my kids. -Usually we listened to music off of records. The sound was very bad and if the record got scratched it would play the same word over and over.
      • Much smaller country school. We knew all the kids at school. No computers, videos, we performed 2 hour Christmas concerts with plays, carols, drills and recitations.A little school , in a little town.
