NSCSS Mission Statement<br />The mission of the National Society of Consulting Soil Scientists, Inc. is:<br />To advance the discipline and practice of soil science by professionals,<br />To promote quality interaction between professional soil scientists and their communities,<br />To represent the diverse consulting, service and business interests of professional soil scientists,<br />To facilitate the exchange of business and soil science experiences within the Society, and<br />To foster professional and ethical conduct in the soil science discipline.<br />
  • 3. Three NSCSS Primary Goals<br /><ul><li>Cooperation! We need to cooperate with other professionals.
  • 4. Professionalism! We need to promote our soil science profession.
  • 5. Ethical Practice is at the heart of who NSCSS is.</li></li></ul><li>Two Specific Primary Goals<br /><ul><li>The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA)
  • 6. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the USDA-NRCS and the National Cooperative Soil Survey (NCSS)</li></li></ul><li>What do we need to accomplish this year as a Society?<br /> Strengthening Professional Relationships:<br />The MOU with SSSA<br />The MOU with NRCS and the NCSS<br />Other Professional Societies<br /> What do we want to accomplish with these MOUs?<br />
  • 7. MOU with the Society of Wetland Scientists (SWS)<br />Many NSCSS members are also Wetland Scientists.<br />It makes sense to cooperate more formally with SWS.<br />I am working with current SWS President, Andy Baldwin on an MOU. <br />
  • 8. MOU with the International Erosion Control Association (IECA)<br />Most NSCSS members are involved with soil erosion and sediment control in some manner.<br />It makes sense to cooperate more formally with IECA.<br />I am working with current IECA President, Michael Chase on an MOU. <br />
  • 9. MOU with the Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS)<br />Many NSCSS members are retired from SCS or NRCS.<br />SWCS is one of the professional societies that they have been aligned with.<br />It makes sense to cooperate more formally with SWCS because of our MOU with NRCS and the NCSS.<br />I am working with current SWCS President, Gary Steinhardt on an MOU. <br />
