Senior Seminar 2013  Research on Dr. Ahmed Zewail’s work that earned him a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1999  Transition states: In chemical reactions, molecules undergo a certain change that guides reactants into products.  Happens nearly instantaneously, originally “guessing” at what intermediate molecule would be  Use of lasers, prisms, and lenses to take a “picture” of intermediate species  Extremely quick reactions, 10-15 seconds!  Variety of applications in all areas of science and medicine
