This version of my iPad + Apps for Designers presentation was prepared for a #KBTribeChat Twitter chat on. It was a social media experiment to see if a Twitter chat about technology would be enhanced by a reference presentation posted on SlideShare. The results were exciting. There were 50 attendees at the Twitter chat who 'retweeted' the presentation widely. Since that time, the presentation has been featured in the Formica Group blog, http://goo.gl/J78ux, and in an interview at the SlideShare blog, http://goo.gl/hHSkb

If you buy the 3G version of iPad, you can go with a smaller monthly data plan by downloading and sending larger files only when you're connected to Wi-Fi, at home, office, or even Starbucks. For example, I open emails with large attachments to read them using 3G, but I wait until I'm on Wi-Fi to open the attachments. Likewise, I made the mistake at an industry reception of taking pictures of everyone on my iPad 2 (no problem), but then I invited friends to email the photo files to themselves on the spot. I should have waited to email photos until back on Wi-Fi. I used up a monthly data plan in one night! When you're on Wi-Fi, emailing and opening files doesn't count against your data plan.1 year ago
As long as you don't load your iPad up with videos and music files, buying maximum memory shouldn't be needed to run a lot of business apps. I recently bought the 16GB iPad 2, since I just use it for business. I wanted to spend the extra $130 for 3G, so I can use everywhere.1 year ago
Are you sure you want to
alandunn1953I'm not a Designer. I'm a consultant in the construction and real-estate development industry. But I see half a dozen applications here that are remarkably well-suited to my day-to-day business.
Does an iPad have the memory to store all these applications at once? Do some of them require and use more memory than the others? I don't have an iPad, but I'm sure I'll be getting one relatively soon. Should I get the one with the most memory?1 year ago
