Motion
These particles have spaces in between them
They move around in these spaces

Gases
In gases, the spaces are far apart

Liquids
In liquids, the spaces are smaller
Now there is a fixed volume

Solids
Even in solids, the particles are moving
Now there is a fixed shape, too

Effects of Energy
If the temperature is raised, the particles move faster
And visa versa

Basically
The higher the temperature, the faster the particles move
