About Dr. Maria Koonce was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and first came to the US as a Fulbright Scholar to East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. There she met her "Gringo" and began a rich life with him, as educators, teacher trainers, publishers, translators, and above all full partners and friends. They have two grown children and four granddaughters. Having recently retired, they continue to remain active in their professional endevours, and ejoy fully meeting new friends, attempting new activities (golf) and visiting new corners of the world.
