  • Key Points to CoverWhatever style you choose, in many cases in today’s world of work, you will be asked to submit your CV via the Internet – so you need to make sure your CV is ‘internet friendly’.And looking into the not too distant future it is predicted that there will be a significant increase in the so called ‘talking CV’ – using social media as a vehicle for uploading audio / video files!Having your CV in word will serve you well in the majority of cases – for example you may need to print it and give a hard copy to someone. In most cases these days a word document is fine as an attachment to an email, though some people prefer to send as a PDF so formatting cannot be lost and to prevent anyone changing your CV in any way.But there are a few things you need to consider for electronic versions of your CV and by this we mean when posting your CV online or copying and pasting your CV into the body of an email.Your CV must be ScannableIn order to ensure your CV can be read when scanned by a digital system do NOT include “fancy” fonts, italics, shading or graphics. For example shading completely obliterates the text within the box and that certainly is not effective!SearchableYou need to include ‘keywords’ or search terms’ to make sure you maximise the key word ‘hits’. You don’t need to create a separate section listing keywords – the electronic reader will pick them up anywhere in your CV. UploadableWhen uploading your CV or cutting a pasting your CV information into an online form it is best to have a version already prepared as .txt version.
  • Key Points to CoverOverview the four key routes to the job market and then ask the group for positives and negatives for each.Link to different sectors requiring different approaches, different ages likely to concentrate different vehicles too.Reactive job market is often the most obvious and easier to tackle - people are more comfortable but should use all possible strategies.Discuss the ‘threat’ that we are currently in a buyers’ market. Therefore think about importance of fine tuning material to sell yourself.
  • Key Points to CoverUse this to summarise the ideas the group offer.
