UCLA Mandarin Teacher Leadership Institute 
2014-2015 
The UCLA Confucius Institute is delighted to offer another series of professional development seminars aimed at providing Mandarin teachers with the necessary tools to become master teachers of language and culture, and the skills and inspiration to serve as leaders in the Mandarin teaching world. We hope you will join us! 
As a participant, you will learn fun and creative strategies to develop lessons emphasizing the exclusive use of the target language while also applying California’s Common Core Standards in the teaching of language, culture, and content. The use of authentic materials and technological resources will also be emphasized. 
Training is provided by faculty from our partners at the California Foreign Language Project, Occidental College. Workshops will be held on Saturdays from 9:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Occidental College, Los Angeles, on the following dates: 
December 13, 2014 January 24, 2015 February 21, 2015 March 21, 2015 April 25, 2015 
Participants will be selected based on a number of factors including teaching experience, background, professional references, and an online application. The cost of the program is $695. Scholarship support is available through the UCLA Confucius Institute. Teachers needing scholarship support should send a copy of their resume to info@confucius.ucla.edu. Those who receive scholarship support will be expected to attend all class meetings.
