Mallory,
Thank you so much for all of your efforts as the Event Lead for the Career Fair held in February
of 2015 at the UCF Rosen Campus. I realize that as a student, it is difficult to take on this type
of role where you are responsible for coordinating a large event with 29 other students, many of
whom you don’t know personally.
As the Event Lead, you worked well with your co-lead (that I assigned), and made sure to
communicate with the class of event planners in a professional, encouraging, and effective
manner. Based on class feedback, the majority of the class appreciated your leadership style,
which leaned to the consultative style. This style allowed the student stakeholders to share their
opinions about every aspect of the Career Fair, thereby gaining their buy-in. At the same time,
your style left room for you to make executive decisions when the time called for such action.
As you graduate and begin to search for jobs, I hope you will be able to use your experiences
leading the Career Fair event while discussing your strengths with potential, event management
employers. The event you led had over 70 exhibiting companies attend, 800 students, and
brought in a profit of nearly $13,000! That is quite incredible given the 6 week planning period
you and the class had to make this event happen. I know that our internal client, Bradley
Loomis, was very pleased with your leadership qualities and event knowledge.
Thank you again for stepping up to the plate during this course. Your leadership, academic
knowledge, and enthusiasm for the event industry were evident. I cannot wait to see where your
degree takes you. Any employer will be lucky to have you as part of their team. Should you ever
need me in the future, you can reach me via phone at 407-903-8020 or
premila.whitney@ucf.edu.
Sincerely,
Premila Whitney, CMP, CHE
