  • 2. Anna Fitzgerald: Anna is thirteen years old, made to be a perfect donormatch for her older sister Kate who has cancer.Sara Fitzgerald: Is the mother of Anna, Kate and Jesse.Brian Fitzgerald: Father of Anna, Kate and Jesse. He is a fire fighter.Kate Fitzgerald: Sister of Anna and Jesse. She has cancer and asks Kateto stop giving her a kidney so she can die.Taylor: Kates boyfriend. Taylor has AML and is 2 years older than Kate.They met at the hospital and went to a hospital dance together. He dies aday after the prom, leading to Kate being heartbroken.Jesse Fitzgerald: Brother of Anna and Kate. He is a rebel but loves hissisters very much.Campbell: A successful lawyer Anna hired for her case. Campbell is livingwith epilepsy and has a service dog.Judge: Campbells service dog.Aunt susane: Sister of Sara Fitzgerald, aunt of Kate, Anna, and Jesse.

Kate is diagnosed with cancer at age two and her momSara wants to do everything she can to save her so thedoctor advices them to try to make a perfect donor matchfor Kate because neither her brother or them are match forher. So they have Anna with in vitro fertilization and theymake sure she is a match for her sister. Anna is born andshe goes through a lot of procedures through all her life .When Kate turns 15 she goes into renal failure and sheneeds Anna to give her a kidney, their mom Sara pushesAnna to give a kidney to her sisters even if she doesn’twant to.

Kate asks Sara not to give her a kidney because she wantsto die and stop suffering.Sara looks for a very famous lawyer called Campbell whoagrees to help her so she can get an emancipation to herbody and she can refuse to give her sister a kidney, also sherealizes all the things that her mother has taken away fromher to save her sister.Her overprotective mother, leads an obsessive campaign tokeep Kate alive, and is indignant at Annas decision.Kate goes to the hospital prom with her boyfriend Taylor andafter that she is upset because he hasn’t called her but shelater find out he already died because he had cancer to.Kate is getting worse and she wants to go to the beach andalthough the doctor says it’s not good for her and her motherdoesn’t want to let her go, her father takes her and theyspend the day at the beach.

Anna and Kates older brother, Jesse reveal that Annasactions are actually under Kates instruction, their motherSara is indignant at this discovery, but finally realizes thatKate had been trying to tell her that she was done and shedidn’t want Anna’s kidney.Before the case is decided, Kate dies while sleeping at thehospital with her mother by her side. After Kates death,Campbell brings the court decision: Anna won the case. Thefamily moves on with their lives, but every year on Katesbirthday they go to Montana, which was her "most favoriteplace in the world." At the end, Anna says that theirrelationship continues because she will see Kate again inheaven some day.

My opinion of this movie has many different points of view ofsomething very important, and also can be understood in verydifferent ways depending on who is watching.For me it was very sad but also very inspiring, the momscarifying everything for her daughter demonstrates that the loveof a mom is endless, the way Kate understood her destiny, shedidn’t give up but she loved her sister so she couldn’t make herdo that, she accepted that she was going to die and she was sostrong going through that pain.
