What Do We Do With This Prophecy? With Marty Gabler & Proceeding Word By Art Nelson Compiled by Francis E. Madojemu
Welcome to the War! • When a person receives aprophecy it is the beginningof warring, praying, changing, adjusting and being propelled forward intodestiny.• How one receives a prophecyis most important.• The proper posture is not tojust sit back and see whathappens.• Upon receiving a prophecy itis time to become active.
You Have Only Just BegunThere is a "proceeding word from God." A proceeding word is aparticular type of “rhema” word, that is, a “quickened”, fresh spoken word from theHoly Spirit. There is also the biblicalprinciple of "growth and development." But before we get to thosefactors, lets look at some ofthe active steps involved inseeing ones prophecy cometo pass.
Why the Proceeding Word from God?• There comes a day when webegin to come into theresponsibilities of “sonship”.• We have grown up in the familyof believers but it is now timeto “get a job”, to be“employed” in the Kingdom ofGod, to begin to fulfill ourcalling by doing the worksprepared for us from thefoundation of the world.• This is when the Holy Spiritbrings to us a proceeding word that takes us into our work inthe Kingdom.
Characteristics of the Proceeding Word • There are three primarycharacteristics of aproceeding word:• 1. it is always deposited in us before it is confirmed by others;• 2. it is always directional in its scope and nature;• 3. it is always dependent upon the power of the Lord for it to be done.• The result is that it always moves you toward the fulfillment of your destiny in the Lord.
When: A Proceeding Word• A proceeding word comesas our preparation processreaches a point where wecan be trusted by God tobe obedient to His wordand walk in the power ofthe Spirit.• Our character has madeprogress toward becomingmore like Jesus and we areable to be used by the Lordwithout becoming liftedup in pride.
The Example of MosesThe Scriptures make itclear that Moses hadwithin him a sense of Hispurpose and calling—thathe was to be a deliverer ofthe people of God fromthe oppression of Egypt.Remember, Moses wasnot a heathen. He was one of the peopleof God even though hehad been raised inPharaoh‘ court.
Acts 7:22‐25 NASB(22) "Moses was educated inall the learning of theEgyptians, and he was a man ofpower in words and deeds.(23) "But when he wasapproaching the age of forty, itentered his mind to visit hisbrethren, the sons of Israel.(24) "And when he saw one of them being treated unjustly, he defended him and tookvengeance for the oppressedby striking down the Egyptian.(25) "And he supposed that hisbrethren understood that Godwas granting them deliverancethrough him, but they did notunderstand.
Fulfilling DestinyMoses real problems startedwhen he tried to enter into hisdestiny by his naturalunderstanding and the arm of theflesh. He acted on what had beendeposited in his heart by God;but his actions arose from hisnatural strength and not by thedirection and power of God.He also supposed that others ofthe people of God wouldunderstand his calling anddestiny. Of course, they didntunderstand.
Fulfilling DestinyYou cannot fulfill your God given destiny through the flesh. When Moses attempted to fulfillhis calling without a proceedingword from God, it created a set ofcircumstances that forced Mosesto flee. He then entered into aforty year preparation timeherding sheep on the backside ofthe desert.(Notice that his Egyptian education, the finest that the world had to offer, did not prepare him to enter into his calling.)
Acts 7:30‐35 NASB(30) "After forty years hadpassed, AN ANGELAPPEARED TO HIM IN THEWILDERNESS OF MOUNTSinai, IN THE FLAME OF ABURNING THORN BUSH.(31)"When Moses saw it, hemarveled at the sight; andas he approached to lookmore closely, there came the voice of the Lord:(32) IAM THE GOD OF YOURFATHERS, THE GOD OFABRAHAM AND ISAAC ANDJACOB. Moses shook withfear and would not ventureto look.
Acts 7:30‐35 NASB(33) "BUT THE LORD SAID TOHIM, TAKE OFF THE SANDALSFROM YOUR FEET, FOR THEPLACE ON WHICH YOU ARESTANDING IS HOLY GROUND.(34)I HAVE CERTAINLY SEEN THEOPPRESSION OF MY PEOPLE INEGYPT AND HAVE HEARD THEIRGROANS, AND I HAVE COMEDOWN TO RESCUE THEM; COMENOW, AND I WILL SEND YOU TOEGYPT.(35) "This Moses whomthey disowned, saying, WHOMADE YOU A RULER AND AJUDGE? is the one whom Godsent to be both a ruler and a deliverer with the help of theangel who appeared to him in thethorn bush.
Covenant PrerequisitesExodus 4:25‐26 NASBA proceeding word does notexcuse us from therequirements of thecovenant of God:circumcision of the flesh forMoses son andcircumcision of the heart forus. The Lord will not allow us tocomplete our destiny evenafter He gives us aproceeding word if we areneglecting the prerequisitesof the covenant.
What About YOU!There are a number of people that have been hidden by God onthe backside of a desert just like Moses. These are people with adestiny in God, a powerful call of the Lord, who are beingprepared to receive a proceeding word. The time is upon us. I believe that the Lord is about to bring tous clear proceeding words that relate to His purposes for theend times. Get ready to move into your destiny.
What About YOU!I dont mean that this issomething you will hear fromsome pompous prophet whoblows into town for a few daysand prophesies a bunch of feelgood words over everybody. The call of God, your destiny, is already in you. The Holy Spirit is about to anointit and release it for fulfillment.Others will only confirm whatyou already know in your heartto be your purpose.
What About YOU!• Look for the unusual thing asyou go about your routineand dont pass by yourburning bush withoutnoticing it.• You will only receive yourproceeding word when youturn aside from your normalday to day affairs in order tohear the Lord.• And for your own sake, dontfrustrate the call of God byneglecting any covenantprerequisites for you andyour family.
WRITE IT OUTThe first active step wouldbe to follow the scripturalprinciple of writing out ortyping out your prophecy. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it (Habakuk 2:2). • We must write out wordsfrom God so that we mayhave an accurate account ofHis word to us.
Write It Down & Keep Records Daniel read Jeremiahs Books to prayDaniel 9:2‐3 KJVIn the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:If you do not keep historical records you are bound to make the same mistakes
Prophetic Word Vs. ProphecyGift of Prophecy vs. the Officeof the Prophet.Simple gift of prophecy has norevelation in it. it edifies, exhorts and comforts.A prophet would have moregift of the spirit in operationthan just the gift of prophecy. He would have revelation giftsalong with prophecy.New testament example ofGift of Prophecy (Acts 21:8,9)– Daughters who Prophecy.New testament example ofthe prophet’s ministry (Act21:10, 11) – Agabus the Prophet
Prophetic Word Vs. ProphecyPRECISIONPrecision of the propheticthat is the main differencebetween prophecy andprophets.Jonah 3:4 KJV And Jonah began to enter into the city a days journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. We have not been a precisepeople we have had too manyvague prophecy but precisionand accuracy is vital at thistime
TYPESMany prophecies containtypes or pictures of an ideathat God desires tocommunicate.Since "a picture paints athousand words" and apicture is less likely to beforgotten than a mass ofwords, the meaning oftypes and pictures is quitesignificant and could verylikely hold the key to theinterpretation of aprophecy.
TYPESPrinciple: It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter (Prov 25:2).Since Rev 1:6 describes usas "kings and priests" thenGod must intend for us to"search out" the hiddenmeanings of ourprophecies. If God has told us to searchthem out, then they can befound. (Cf. 1Co 2:10).
War A Good Warfare• One of the factors in prophecy that really stands out inmy mind was when Paul told Timothy,• "This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;" (1Timothy 1:18). • The only kind of warfare I am interested in is "good warfare." "Good warfare" is warfare that we win! Goodwarfare is fought with our prophecies.
War a Good WarfareWar a good warfare inother words to helpdefeat the enemy to standyour ground.1 Timothy 6:12 KJV(12) Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
NEXT?Some folks areprobably asking,"How on earth do Ifight with aprophecy?"The answer is in(1.) Speaking that prophecy and (2.) Praying that prophecy.
Speak Your ProphecyHebrews 3:1 KJVWherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;Jesus is the High Priest of our words. He is the high Priestof our Confession.
Speak Your ProphecyWhen we speak forth theWord of God in faith, weknow He is watching overHis Word to Perform it.He gives us His Word tospeak. He tells us what to say inorder for us to succeed. You can’t have faith basedoutside of the Word of God.We are afraid to speakbecause of cultural issues
Speak Your ProphecyNumbers 14:26‐28 KJVHow long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:God hears not only what we say in prayer!
Speak Your Prophecy• Whenever satan attackswith discouragement orwhenever you feel likegiving up because of whatseems to you to be delay, simply begin proclaiminginto the atmosphere whatGod has spoken to you.• It is Easy to tell Nigeria’sproblems and woes• Very few know thesolution or even God’soriginal Prophetic Destiny for our nation
Pray Your Prophecy• Many times when we pray we tend to pray theproblem rather than the solution.• That simply becomes a gripe session to God ratherthan a calling out to God in faith. One of the most discouraging matters to deal with inlooking for the fulfillment of a prophecy is what webelieve is a delay of time.
Pray Your Prophecy• In several places the Bible speaks of "suddenlies.“ But ifwe look at the stories carefully I believe we will noticethat God was wisely taking time to move people andcircumstances into position for the "suddenly" to explodeinto manifestation.• During the developing period (which matures and prepsus to actually walk in those things the prophecy spoke of)we maintain a posture of faith by praying the elements ofthe prophecy back to God.
Pray Your Prophecy• Pray the harvest we praytoo much about what wedo not want instead ofwhat we want, againstcorruption rather than forIntegrity, against povertyinstead of for prosperity.• Pray for the soil and theharvest not the seed theseed is the word of God(Men are seed too)• Pray for and towardsyour destiny
