He made one single orbit. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Alan Shepare became America’s first man in space one month after Gagarin </li></ul></ul></ul>

They are no longer in orbit. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>SkyLab- US launched space station that conducted tests for many years. (No longer in use.) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>MIR- space station the Soviets launched that held cosmonauts for 366 days </li></ul></ul>

It launches like a rocket, but lands like a plane. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Also the Challenger, (which exploded) Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour are part of the fleet. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Rocket Liftoff: </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Rocket mixes fuel </li></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Lifts off and loses sold fuel boosters </li></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>External fuel tank seperates </li></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Shuttle completes mission </li></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Shuttle lands like a glider </li></ul></ul></ul></ul>
