  • 2. What Is A Sitcom? <ul><li>Sitcom is the shortened name for Situation Comedy which is a genre of comedy with recurring characters and common settings. This could include: </li></ul><ul><li>A house </li></ul><ul><li>A workplace </li></ul><ul><li>A pub </li></ul>The Nags Head now, which used to be the pub used for Only Fools and Horses.
  • 3. Age Groups <ul><li>Sitcoms are a mix of drama in certain circumstances as well as comedy to make what is a humorous but also situational programme. More recent and new Sitcoms should be viewed by people above the ages of 16. There is quite a lot of over aged content in programmes like The Inbetweeners, PhoneShop etc. </li></ul>

Examples Of Sitcoms <ul><li>Only Fools and Horses – </li></ul><ul><li>Del Boy Goes Gliding Part 1 </li></ul><ul><li>Only Fools and Horses is one of the greatest Sitcoms of all time which was about two brothers who were single (got married later on) trying to cope with their granddad and then their uncle in pursuing their dream of becoming millionaires. </li></ul>
  • 5. Title Sequences <ul><li>Title sequences in Sitcoms can vary but most sitcoms have title sequences where characters are introduced in different ways. </li></ul><ul><li>Only Fools And Horses Title Sequence (Old) </li></ul><ul><li>Only Fools And Horses Title Sequence </li></ul>
  • 6. Characteristics Of Sitcoms <ul><li>Sitcoms characteristics include: </li></ul><ul><li>Family – My Family, Only Fools And Horses </li></ul><ul><li>Workplace – Fawlty Towers, Open All Hours, The Office (UK) </li></ul><ul><li>Group of friends – The Inbetweeners </li></ul>
  • 7. Situation Comedy Films <ul><li>Situation Comedy films are sitcoms but much longer and a longer lasting situation. Some examples include: </li></ul><ul><li>Home Alone (1990) </li></ul><ul><li>Arthur (1981) </li></ul><ul><li>Skin Deep (1989) </li></ul>
