Slide 9: Eligibility 2007 Participant Profile The Myths: Class Size: 120+ Admitted Students 1. I have to be a business major Male: 43% Female: 57% MLT and our corporate partners are looking for students from all disciplines and majors – from liberal arts to engineering. ~35% scored 1300+ on SAT 2. I have to have a firm career goal already Average GPA: ~3.4 You don’t need to know exactly what you want to do after college. Part of MLT’s program mission is to expose you to new opportunities to help you Mix of Ivy League, Top Public/Private determine what you want to do. Universities Targeting Finance Careers: 54% The Requirement: Econ/Finance/Bus Major: 45% 1. Identify as a under-represented minority Partner Program Sourcing Identify as Black/African-American, Latino(a), Native American, or a combination with any of the aforementioned identities LEAD, CS Explorers, INROADS, Posse 2. A member of the class of 2010 Students apply to Career Prep during their sophomore year and participate in the program during their junior year The Expectation: 1. Achievement MLT wants students who have demonstrated achievement inside and outside of the classroom 2. Motivation Students who want to learn and who want to succeed 3. Commitment Fellows are required to dedicate an average of 3 hours per week over the course of the 12 month program.
