  4. 4. Look at kids today! They don’t want tolearn a language! They think it’s going to behard work and they’re not wrong either…
  5. 5. My resource budget is solimited… howcan I possiblymake language learning engaging?
  6. 6. There are so manyattractive elective subjectsto choose from on ‘our line’ … there’s no way we can compete against them!
  7. 7. It’s so hard toconvince them that what weare doing will be useful to them one day…
  8. 8. My students don’t feel like they’re making any progress. Nowonder, there are so few hours allocated to the course…
  9. 9. Kids aredropping out oflanguage study all over the world! Why would it be different in Australia…?
  10. 10. Boys aren’tinterested in learning languages…
  11. 11. Parents have so much influence on the kids’subject choices… and most don’t give a damn about language learning...
  12. 12. They’ll only want to study a language iftheir friends are doing it too…
  13. 13. Languages receive so little support from the executive staff… half the time, we’re not even recognised as a legitimate Key Learning Area…
