2. 2. USES OF FRACTIONS <ul><li>Fractions are used to represent a part of one unit or several units. </li></ul><ul><li>A fraction is written with two numbers: numerator and denominator </li></ul>
3. 3. EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS <ul><li>Equivalent fractions are equal amounts. </li></ul><ul><li>To get equivalent fractions multipy or divide both numerator and denominator by the same number </li></ul>
4. 4. FRACTION OF A QUANTITY <ul><li>Calculate a fraction of a quantity multipling the quantity by the numerator and dividing the result by the denominator </li></ul>
5. 5. SUM AND DIFFERENCE OF FRACTIONS <ul><li>First, find equivalent fractions with the same denominators (lcm) </li></ul><ul><li>Then, add or subtract the numerators and write the same denominator </li></ul>
6. 6. PRODUCT AND DIVISION OF FRACTIONS <ul><li>To multiply fractions, just multiply numerators and denominators </li></ul><ul><li>To divide fractions, first, invert the fraction you are dividing by; then multiply both fractions </li></ul>
