  • FRACTIONS USES AND OPERATIONS
  • USES OF FRACTIONS
    • Fractions are used to represent a part of one unit or several units.
    • A fraction is written with two numbers: numerator and denominator
  • EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS
    • Equivalent fractions are equal amounts.
    • To get equivalent fractions multipy or divide both numerator and denominator by the same number
  • FRACTION OF A QUANTITY
    • Calculate a fraction of a quantity multipling the quantity by the numerator and dividing the result by the denominator
  • SUM AND DIFFERENCE OF FRACTIONS
    • First, find equivalent fractions with the same denominators (lcm)
    • Then, add or subtract the numerators and write the same denominator
  • PRODUCT AND DIVISION OF FRACTIONS
    • To multiply fractions, just multiply numerators and denominators
    • To divide fractions, first, invert the fraction you are dividing by; then multiply both fractions
  • Find the missing fractions
