AUTOSUGGESTION (Step 3) The Medium for Influencing the Subconscious Mind (see the

Beautiful bird song and the flow of our upper-property lake water swiftly running to sea next
to our home are the first sounds of the day I hear. It adds to the sensations I feel of my
beloved’s breath upon the nape of my neck. We both awaken to the sunlight shining in the
big bay windows reflecting like diamonds on the surface of the river. The seawater looking
like glass reflects the calm of our own minds after a full night's sleep. Held in each other's
arms it all just keeps getting better. Neither of us has ever experienced the feeling of
cuddling like this before, not to mention all the other joys and miracles shared between us.
An ease and effortlessness which makes it the most natural thing in the world for us to be
together, we both thank God every day for the gift of knowing ourselves and sharing the
adventure of getting to know each other. Extending our love as parents will be the next
journey for us, but not quite yet.
I originally wrote the above late in 2005, it was titled Perfect Day with My Wife. I was then
40 years old. Determination burned within me to find the woman of my dreams, marry and
create home and family together. But how would that ever happen? I had been single for so
long I honestly wondered if my circumstances would ever change. Looking back upon my life
at that time I was discouraged because my fate seemed to not be cooperating with my
DESIRE. But I was resolved to not give up.
I hired some good relationship coaches and put every bit of my will and determination
toward my chosen DESIRE to make myself ready to find and marry my Beloved. One of the
exercises my coaches had me do was to write out A Perfect Day with My Wife. It’s funny
because these random ideas had been in my mind for some time but until my coach gave me
this writing project I had never gathered all the parts of my dream together and written it
out as I shared with you above. Now 4 years later I’m happily married and living the life of
my dreams. I didn’t see it then but today I can look back and credit how AUTOSUGGESTION

was unconsciously at work in assisting me to be The Master of My Fate and the Captain of
My Soul! It still is today.
Napoleon Hill offers insight into the workings of influencing the subconscious mind in his
book Think and Grow Rich. He suggests that Autosuggestion is Self-Suggestion,
communication between conscious thought and that which serves as the seat of Action. He
suggests that the Subconscious Mind is a fertile garden and Autosuggestion feeds the
subconscious mind on thoughts of a creative nature, which are then brought forth from this
rich garden of mind.
Are you Consciously Aware of the seeds being planted in your rich garden of mind?
Is your garden full of weeds that are getting in the way of nurturing your most precious
seeds of thought and inspiration?
Ever wonder why some seeds of things we think we really want never seem to sprout?
The subconscious mind recognizes and acts ONLY upon thoughts which have been well
mixed with emotion and feeling…WELL EMOTIONALIZED with BELIEF. The seeds in your
subconscious must be nurtured, your capacity to CONCENTRATE upon a given DESIRE until
that desire becomes a BURNING OBSESSION is key. Like a seed in the soil requires warmth
from the Sun, you must shine upon the seeds of thought that you have sown in your own
subconscious mind. It also helps to remember that the price of ability to influence your
subconscious mind is everlasting PERSISTENCE, most likely it will take more than just a few
sunny days!

Deepok Chopra offers more insight when he suggests beliefs take us to a subtler level of the
mind…What you believe is reinforced by what you experience, but what you experience also

be in the subject line). Anyone who has wrestled with the question, Does he (or she) love
me? Knows what it feels like to have tiny things like a glance or a casual word or an
unreturned phone call confirm or destroy your belief in being loved.
But while Autosuggestion may be most easily understood in matters of the heart it still
applies if your Definite Chief Aim involves money and the attainment of wealth.
In Think and Grow Rich Mr. Hill suggests that the dominating thoughts which one permits to
remain in the conscious mind (whether these thoughts be negative or positive really doesn’t
matter) will reach and influence the subconscious mind, through the Law of Autosuggestion.
He proposes, and I agree, that we have ABSOLUTE CONTROL over the material that reaches
our subconscious mind through the five senses. But this is not to say that individuals
exercise this control, the great majority of people do not which explains why so many people
go through life in poverty. It can take great effort of will to pull the weeds of poverty-
thinking which can dominate our rich garden of mind.

When you pay attention to your thoughts, are they lifting you up or pulling you down?
Are you keeping in mind that the price of ability to influence your subconscious mind is
everlasting PERSISTENCE?
Do you Mastermind and Implement all 13 steps to be the master of you fate and captain of
your soul? (Step 9 The Power of the Mastermind will detail this Driving Force)
Especially in the accumulation of money autosuggestion depends upon the skill of
CONCENTRATION. The ability to Concentrate upon a given DESIRE until that Desire becomes
a BURNING OBSESSION.
CONCENTRATION, fixation of attention:
…ACTUALLY SEE physical appearance of the money. By you Believing it your Sub-Conscious
mind will Believe it, That…
…I must have the amount of money I’m visualizing.
…That the money is already awaiting my claim.
…The Sub-Conscious mind MUST hand over practical Plans for acquiring the money which is
mine.
…Give this thought to the IMAGINATION for the Transmutation of this Desire (Step 5 will
explain in greater detail Imagination, the workshop of the mind).
Applying CONCENTRATION in this way will have you DEMANDING and EXPECTING PLANS
(Step 6 will explain the Crystallization of Desire into Action) …when you are inspired with a
Plan it must be put into ACTION IMMEDIATELY.

As part of visualizing (with eyes closed) the money you intend to accumulate SEE YOURSELF
RENDERING THE SERVICE AND DELIVERING THE MERCHANDISE YOU INTEND TO GIVE IN
RETURN FOR THE MONEY.
An affirmation which can be used with your visualization could be as follows:
I believe that I will have this money in my possession. My Faith is so strong that I can now
see this money before my eyes. I can touch it with my hands. It is now awaiting transfer to
me at the time and in the proportion that I deliver the service I intend to render in return for
it. I am awaiting a plan by which to accumulate this money, and I will follow that plan when
it is received.
We may become the master of ourselves, and of our environment, because we have the
POWER TO INFLUENCE OUR OWN SUBCONSCIOUS MIND, and through it to gain the
cooperation of Infinite Intelligence.

The actual performance of transmuting DESIRE into money involves the use of
autosuggestion as an agency by which you may reach and influence the subconscious mind.
While beginning to explore your deep garden of mind remember to be patient and
persistent. It is easy to become discouraged if you cannot control and direct these deep
seated emotions the first few times you try. For most it takes great persistence over time to
access all the thoughts, feelings and emotions of a destructive nature that must be pulled
and weeded-out of the subconscious mind. Trust in the process. Better yet do this work
with a coach who will believe in you when your own belief in yourself may have you feeling
more underwater than above it.
