  3. 3. Implications • – n. (plural) • suggestions or indirect indications. • The implication of the boy’s superior look was that his sister could never match him in math.
  4. 4. Poignant • – adj. • drawing forth pity, compassion; moving. • The picture of the mother hugging her son was a poignant image of love and compassion.
  5. 5. Enigma • – n. • a puzzling or baffling matter; a riddle. • The rubik’s cube was a complete enigma to me.
  6. 6. Condescending • – adj. • characterized by looking down on someone. • When she talks to me so condescendingly, I feel like a 4-year-old child.
  7. 7. Sentimental • – adj. • excessively or foolishly emotional. • The romantic drama was so full of sentimental dribble that I threw up a little in my mouth.
  8. 8. Rancor • – n. • hatred; spite. • Max threw his dog such a look of rancor that the poor animal trotted out of the house with his tail between his legs.
