I also think about sitting in the car in a parking lot at a store and he came out of the store with a baby doll for me and it wasn’t even my birthday!
I also remember him taking me to the mountain to shoot the rifle!”
75. 75. Kiwi
“When I think of Pappy I remember how he is the smartest man I have ever met and that I am so lucky to have him as my grandpa.
I remember when Pappy and I sat on the dock of the lake house and fished. Nonnie cooked up the fish –it was the best meal I ever had!”
79. 79. Louise
When I think of Pappy I remember when we had to jump a fence and run through a field to pick a weed for him that he spied while driving along a highway on vacation. Even worse once he identified it I promptly forgot the name of it.

I remember riding on his back while he swam. I remember how concerned he was when we were on the floor of the VW in Nebraska during a tornado.
I also remember him teaching me to drive the VW and I stalled it on the railroad tracks as a train was coming...I guess he was a little worried then but I was too freaked out to notice.

80. 80. Jenny and Danny
When I think of Pappy I remember a massive pillow fight with Pappy while Bob and Louise were out.
He cleaned it up before Bob and Louise got home and hid all the evidence including the torn pillows. Pappy the rule breaker
81. 81. Kara
“When I think of Pappy I remember him writing
in his “accessory cortex.”
I also remember the time that I stole his
“cortex” and wrote all through it.
Since then he wouldn’t let me near it!”
82. 82. MARIAOh, and I remember Pappy swimming across the bottom of a hotel pool while we were on vacation and surfacing with the tip of his long nose all bloody. And the time he killed the snake while we were on a hike in Virginia and he took it home and put it in Nonnie's freezer. And when Louise fell out of back of the Volkswagen bus when we were leaving the grocery store in Hollidaysburg because he didn't slam the trunk...and he swore us all to secrecy because Nonnie would have killed him. I remember when I was dating Mark, and Pappy would drive Mark home at the end of the night. Mark only lived 10 minutes away, but Pappy, without saying a word, would often set off on long, meandering rides through the dark countryside while we cuddled in the backseat.
83. 83. John
When I think of Pappy I remember when I accidentally smacked him in the nose with his hammer when 'helping' put up a bird cage in Staunton. I remember singing in the car on trips--he was the only one in tune.
I remember how proud he was of his fallout shelter,-and how stressed out he was after spending half a day inside it with four kids.
I remember how accurate he looked as a caveman at Mom and Dads 50th Wedding Anniversary Party.
I remember how cool we thought it was to have a Dad who knew his way around DC-like having our own travel guide
84. 84. Nina
“When I think of Pappy I remember when I would come down stairs in the morning and he would be eating a big bowl of Cheerios and he would sit and talk to me about my life.”
85. 85. Rosemary Glover
“When I think of Donald I always remember when he was in medical school and I had just had Glen. He asked me to look at my stitches, and I said NO!”
