I’m not sure what the goal is but I’m looking forward to creating a learning toolkit - I like creating structure.

Being a life- long learner is a positive challenge for me. I truely enjoy learning and reading. .
Using technology can be a hurdle but it holds the future for all of us. Luckly, I have found help through friends who are willing patient. I know that as I keep on with bloogs, I will more and more enjoy being a part of Web Adventure.

I think all of the 71/2 habits are applicable to the development of good life skills in general. Although viewing 'problems as challenges' is the learning habit I find most difficult to establish, I feel particularly anxious about using technology to my advantage. Like Debi, I think it comes down to how much time and energy I’m willing to invest in that area (and, perhaps, I’m a little lazy), but there are so many things I would like to learn! Lee B.

I am a life-long learner. I love to read, I love new challenges. I am always looking for ways to expand my mind. I am also going to school. I earned a degree as an adult in the last year and have continued into a masters program. The most difficult thing for me is mastering new technology. but I have learned that with patience and persistence you can do anything. Looking forward to this new adventure.

I think learning something new everyday is important. It helps keep my mind sharp and fresh. As technology keeps changing this should not be too difficult to accomplish. Of the 7-1/2 lifelong learning habits, I’d say the easiest one for me is accepting responsibility for learning. With 2 children at home, I have to be on my game! The hardest of the habits for me is to begin with an end in mind. I have a tendancy to know from the onset I will have to put things off or will continue fine tuning things to death, making this habit difficult for me.

One of the things that really stood out in the material presented was the beliefs of successful lifelong learners, specifically the belief that it’s never too soon or too late to learn something. As I get older I have to remember that! All of the habits have merit, I especially am going to remember the first 3. Which are 'Begin with the end in mind', 'Accept responsibility for your own learning',and 'View problems as challenges'.

I love to learn new things and figure them out for myself. I may be a little reluctant to ask for help, I tend to view all my problems as challenges! I am excited about new technologys and I like to teach others about them, too...it helps me to learn it better and hopefully helps them! As for the last habit, I love to play, maybe a little too much! But hey, how else are you going to learn?? --Jane Booth

I have found it all comes down to how much time and energy I am willing to invest in learning something new. If I don’t take advantage of learning new skills its my own fault when I’m not prepared. Responsiblity was one of the key words that stood out during this exercise. Debi

I like to think of myself as a life-long learner. Reading has always been my favorite tool. I am now going to school, after many years, to get a degree in art history, a subject I have always be interested in (my minor in college). I’m enjoying the class not only for the subject matter, but also for the young classmates with whom I get to interact . I am still learning about technology, especially how best to use the IUPUI library online. I find that when the class is given an online assignment (say, something we have to read, which is on electronic hold for us), I still print everything out because I prefer a written copy to read (and it’s easier on my old eyes). Maybe as I get more familiar with all the resources, I will update my learning toolbox. I still need to increase my confidence as an effective learner, for at this point I don’t feel that I could teach or mentor anyone.

I need to play more!!!! Lois Babcock
