The SCM Evaluation Center enables you to compare and evaluate functionality based on TEC’s comprehensive model of SCM software. Data used in the Evaluation Center are obtained from the vendor’s responses to TEC’s request for information (RFI). Certification ensures that product capabilities have been demonstrated to TEC analysts based on the responses Logility provided in its completed TEC RFI; and that TEC analysts have analytically and comparatively reviewed Logility Voyager Solutions RFI data against known benchmarks. rtified Ce pr oductTEC Product Certification Report 4
  • 5. Benefits of Evaluating a TEC Certified ProductThere are many benefits to evaluating a TEC Certified product. To potential clients of a software vendor,TEC certification provides the following:• Reassurance: You can be assured that the data TEC provides about its certified products conform to a well-defined standard of accuracy. When a vendor’s product is TEC Certified, it means that a trusted, independent third party has seen the product up close.• Better communication with vendors: TEC certification helps ensure that vendors understand and respond accurately to their clients’ RFI criteria. Certification with TEC analysts provides the opportunity to clarify any issues with the RFI criteria. This ensures that the vendor is speaking the same language as its potential clients—and gives the clients an unambiguous specification of product functionality to inform their selections. The certification seal is a valuable indicator for organizations that rely on the integrity of TEC’s researchservices for assistance with their software selection projects. Organizations looking for a solution can beconfident that they’re comparing the product on an “apples to apples” basis with other, similar products. TEC Product Certification Report 5
  • 6. Logility Voyager Solutions: Overview Founded on the industry’s first demand and replenishment systems developed by American Software, Logility launched its first market solution for Supply Chain Management (SCM) in 1996. Today, with more than 40 years of history, Logility is still one of the leaders in the development of SCM systems. The main reasons for this leadership are the continuous evolution of its SCM strategy, an ability to provide the means for a quick customization and deployment of its solutions, and an active line of communication with its customers to maintain continuous software product evolution. This enables Logility to address the need for new features, which then become a basic need in this competitive and demanding space. Logility also bases its success on a proven combination of technology applications as well as a strong partnership with professional services providers to maintain high-quality standards in terms of deployment efforts and expertise for technical support. According to Logility, most of its customers are in the consumer goods sectors, which speaks to the ability of Logility to serve a market with high demands for control and continuous performance measuring. Logility also has a strong presence in the process and wholesale distribution sectors, where it relies heavily on its ability to maintain high-service performance standards in all stages of the SCM process. To be successful in this extremely competitive SCM space, software providers need to develop and deliver products that go beyond the traditional demand, supply, and transportation management and provide additional value, such as performance and optimization capabilities, which are key to the deployment and operational success of SCM systems.TEC Product Certification Report 6

  • 8. Product Highlights Based on four main principles, here is how Logility Voyager Solutions fared. Ease of Use • Layout: Logility Voyager Solutions is designed in a neat and clear way, with elements in the user interface being easy to locate and identify. • Interface: The user interface is, in general, easy to read and interpret. The simplicity of the graphs in the performance management section allows users to quickly understand and analyze them. Pop-up menus are simple and flexible to work with. • Integration capabilities: Logility’s product suite resides under the Voyager Solutions product umbrella, which concentrates all the functionality tools to deliver a complete supply chain system. Value chain collaboration, demand planning, inventory optimization, supply optimization, transportation & logistics optimization, performance management, and sales & operations planning (S&OP) comprise the complete set of tools that Logility puts in place. All applications are neatly integrated and combined with Web and Client Server solutions to adapt to customer needs. • Navigation: We have noticed that there are at least two quite different user interfaces incorporated and amalgamated within the software. But this does not impede convenient and fast interactions between the user and the application. Workflow Design • Information retrieval: Data is captured and visualized in clear and simple views, designed to be accessible and user friendly. The tool’s ability to display information in matrix (spreadsheet) form and simultaneously display it in graphic representation makes it easier for the user to interpret and follow the data flow during the entire supply chain process.TEC Product Certification Report • Deployment: The solution can be deployed on the customer’s premise. A hosted deployment option is also available. • Alerts and notifications: Logility Voyager Solutions provides extensive and easy-to-modify alert and notification functionality. There are multiple levels of alerts (critical, warning, information) that a user can set up depending on his/her needs. Technical Considerations • Server platforms: The application can be run on Microsoft Server, UNIX, or IBM Power Systems (formerly known as iSeries). A hosted option is also available, but it needs to be negotiated with the vendor. 8 • DBMS platform: The customer has a choice of selection among the following databases: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or IBM DB2.
  • 9. Product AnalysisThe first key aspect of Voyager Solutions is its ability to perform and offer a great deal of functionality, features, and capabilities seamlessly across the complete suite of applications and integrate this intoa singular solution that works effectively—i.e., one that is well integrated.Another important characteristic of the Logility software is that besides supporting of supply chainmaterial and document flows, this product is focused on optimization of many business activities, including S&OP, inventory level, and manufacturing planning and scheduling. Having an opportunityto proactively monitor the whole supply chain through a product’ lifecycle, along with the ability tosee in real time where the potential areas for improvement are, many of Logility’s customers reallybenefit from this optimization commitment of the software.Voyager Solutions is a powerful and multilayer tool of supply chain professionals. And beingoptimization-centered, it offers a wide range of instruments enabling efficiency improvement and theentire supply chain rationalization. The TEC Focus Indicator™This TEC Focus Indicator shows you which types of functionality are most likely to differentiateLogility Voyager Solutions from other products in the SCM space. It includes three zones indicatingthe product’s focus: the Dominant Zone (in green), Competitive Zone (white), and Minimal SupportZone (red). TEC Product Certification Report 9
  • 10. Supply Chain Management - October 2010 Figure 1. TEC Focus Indicator for Logility Voyager Solutions TEC’s model of SCM systems is designed with a comprehensive breadth; generally vendors will deliver a common base of functionality. While it’s necessary to know whether a product supports a base of common functionality, it’s very helpful to understand how a product really differs from the crowd. The rankings in this Focus Indicator represent neither the quality of the product nor an absolute quantity of supported functionality. Rather, the rankings show support relative to the average solution on the market. The functional focus axes indicate the modules of a typical SCM product. Red dots that are near the centerTEC Product Certification Report of the functional focus axes reveal where Logility Voyager Solutions is more likely to differentiate itself through breadth of functionality. If your needs tend toward the type of functionality for which the red dots are located near the center of the Focus Indicator, this product will likely provide what you need. 10
  • 11. Understanding the TEC Focus Indicator ZonesThe Industry Average circle shows the quantity of functionality supported, on average, by softwareproducts in this market space. To understand how we calculate this Industry Average, read the Calculatingthe TEC Focus Indicator section of this report. The colored zones are TEC’s measure for determining which modules of a vendor’s product offer dominantor competitive functionality with respect to what is available in the industry.Dominant ZoneLogility Voyager Solutions has five modules located in the Dominant Zone: Transportation ManagementSystem, Demand Management, Order Management, Supply Chain Analytics, and Warehouse ManagementSystem functional modules.More details for the modules in the Dominant zone are available in the Functionality Benchmark sectionlater in this document. The area of functional focus within the green Dominant zone indicates where the product has a greaterlevel of support for functionality than the average solution in this market space. Dominant modules arelikely to be competitive differentiators. This may reveal how the vendor has focused its product development. Dominant modules may or maynot make up the bulk of the functionality within the product, but if you require more than the averagebreadth of functionality from these modules, this product will stand a much better-than-average chanceof satisfying your requirements.Competitive ZoneLogility Voyager Solutions has one module in the Competitive Zone: Service Parts Planning.More details for the modules in the Competitive zone are available in the Functionality Benchmark section. The area of functional focus falling within the pale Competitive zone indicates where the product has alevel of support for functionality that is generally on par with what you can find from other solutions on themarket. The functionality provided by the vendor is a core part of the product’s focus. TEC Product Certification ReportIn some cases, a module may be considered a commodity within the market: many vendors offer themajority of the functionality, which makes it difficult to differentiate a product based on breadth offunctionality alone. In other cases, a vendor may intend its product to compete on a level that satisfies most customers’requirements, with a market focus requiring that it differentiates itself through other modules or throughthe qualitative manner in which it provides its functionality. 11
  • 12. The Competitive zone is bisected by the Industry Average circle, which indicates whether a product is providing a greater or lesser quantity of the features commonly available within the market space. Minimal Support Zone Logility Voyager Solutions has two modules in the Minimal Support Zone: International Trade Logistics and Supplier Relationship Management. Both these modules are not supported by the application. The area in the red zone indicates where the product supports fewer features and functions than the average solution in the market. Modules listed in this zone are unlikely to be as important to the vendor’s target clientele as the other modules. If a product has rankings in this zone, it generally offers the bare essentials and isn’t focused on competing for clients that highly prioritize this functionality. Products that are newer entrants in this space tend to have more modules ranked in the Minimal Support zone, indicating a more finely scoped target for functionality than other products (this is also often the case for point solutions). Even if a product has modules in the Minimal Support zone, it may still be entirely capable of satisfying your requirements, particularly if the average solution on the market offers more functionality than you require. Nevertheless, you should be aware that if you require a greater-than-average breadth of functionality from a module in the Minimal Support zone, this product may not offer all that you require. It’s likely that you would need to review the product in more depth to determine whether its functionality is sufficient. Calculating the TEC Focus Indicator TEC defines an average solution using data about real software products available on the market. We assess the capabilities of the software and assign numeric ratings representing various levels of support in our models of enterprise software. Depending on the model, we use anywhere from a thousand to several thousand criteria to determine the average scores. These models and product scores may be accessed through our publicly available Evaluation Centers. We calculate what an average solution would look like based on the features and functions about which software vendors have provided us with recent information. We then normalize the scores of this solution as the circle labeled “Industry Average” bisecting the Focus Indicator graph. We also define boundariesTEC Product Certification Report on the high and low ends of the average, which are the demarcation points for passing into Dominant or Minimal Support zones. Next, we determine the quantity of functionality supported by Logility Voyager Solutions for each module in our model. We assume that all criteria are equally important. In a real-world situation, of course, you would give a greater priority to criteria that are more important for your needs. However, for the sake of the TEC Focus Indicator analysis, we want to draw conclusions about the product’s focus independently of any priorities. 12
  • 13. The Industry Average forms the benchmark from which we calculate the difference in functionality offeredby Logility Voyager Solutions. The difference between Logility Voyager Solutions and the Industry Averageis plotted as a positive or negative distance from the Industry Average line. For example, if Logility VoyagerSolutions offers a greater quantity of support than the average solution for a particular module, the red dotwill be located toward the inner focus of the graph. It’s important to note that a product is not “good” or “bad” just because it has more or less functionality thanother products. To understand whether it will do what you need it to do, at a price within your budget, youmust evaluate the product in depth.Functionality BenchmarkThe following functionality benchmark graphs represent Logility Voyager Solutions’s quantity of supportfor the functionality within each module identified in the TEC Focus Indicator. The further the solid lineextends toward the edge of the graph (or, in the case of the initial bar chart, the closer the bar is to 100percent), the more functionality Logility Voyager Solutions supports. For the sake of comparison, you cansee what you might expect from the average solution by referring to the dashed orange line. TEC Product Certification Report 13
  • 14. About Transportation Management Transportation involves many different parties within and outside a company who are required to routinely share information and ideas. A fully functional transportation management module should provide the basic components of a shared information system to support the following: • content, such as rates, routes, roles, and contracts, at inter-enterprise generic levels • commerce to support and create transaction sets, documents, and information exchange to facilitate the booking, execution, and settlement of transportation movements on an “any-to-any” level • collaboration for real-time and interactive exchange among multiple parties, irrespective of roles The data model and data dictionary of the TMS should thus support a wide and diverse range of interactions. The system should also facilitate the exchange of data with a series of external and internal applications, as well as provide user-level tools and utilities. The combination of these robust system infrastructures and collaborative applications should enable the user to perform all necessary functions involved in the planning, execution, and analysis of transportation movements. Logility Voyager Solutions has one of its stronger functionality capabilities in this module, with more than 60 percent above the average (figure 2). The solution from Logility is able to plan, execute, and track transportation, as well as accurately analyze all the components of the transportation process.TEC Product Certification Report Criteria Legend No. of Criteria 1 System Definition and Implementation 55 2 Transportation Management Operation 104 Functionality Figure 2. • 15. About Warehouse Management SystemA warehouse management system (WMS) should provide database and user-level tools to enable acompany to optimize its storage facilities while providing user-level task direction and activity support. The combination of system-directed operations, supported by real-time, paperless, and interactiveinformation systems will provide warehouse management and personnel with the tools to direct, control, measure, and report on distribution operations. The WMS should enable warehouse operators tooptimize pick, put-away, and replenishment functions by employing powerful system logic to select thebest locations and sequences. These are defined by rules that are based on industry best practices, whiletaking into account enterprise specific opportunities and constraints. In order to facilitate ongoing activitytracking and performance reporting, the WMS should include integration with bar code and wireless radiofrequency data collection devices to enable accurate, efficient tracking of goods through the storagefacility. While the average vendor has a functionality rank below 40 percent, Logility Voyager Solutions is rankedon average at a level of 80 percent. Figure 3 speaks for itself, showing that Logility comprises a functionalityset in this module that goes beyond the average by almost the double. • 16. About Supply Chain Analytics Supply Chain Analytics encompasses both Supply Chain Event Management (SCEM) and Supply Chain Optimization (SCO). This software allows individuals within the supply chain network to detect any problems within the processes and nodes of the supply chain by giving users “what-if” analyses within the SCEM. It also allows users to be able to optimize the entire supply chain, inventory, or transportation routes and loads. Supply Chain Analytics also encompasses supply chain planning, where individuals within the supply chain can plan events within the chain, regardless of whether this is a pure distribution operation, a manufacturing operation where goods are sources, or a mix of both distribution and manufacturing. Due to a specific tool dedicated to performance management, Logility Voyager Solutions is able to deliver a robust set of analytics and analysis capabilities to measure performance within the supply management process. With a score of more than 35 percent above the average solution (figure 4), Logility can do reliable work in order to measure control and optimize the health of a supply chain process.TEC Product Certification Report Criteria Legend No. of Criteria 1 Supply Chain Optimization 65 2 Supply Chain Event Management 75 3 Production and Supply Planning 117 Figure 4. • 17. About Demand ManagementDemand management systems today have moved beyond the narrow concept of statistical forecasting toencompass both global and cross enterprise trading partner processes. In addition, the real-time nature oftoday’s business requires that rapid feedback from markets and adjustments to demand assumptions arepropagated through the supply chain to improve delivery and cost performance. Demand managementmeans identifying and creating demand (marketing, merchandising, and promoting), modeling(forecasting, pricing, and life cycle planning), and collaborating (communicating, simulating, and creatingconsensus) with the network of trading partners. It also means evaluating results and creating learningcycles where the market, including geographic, demographic, and economic, assumptions are evaluatedand improved upon to constantly improve the performance of the chain.Having submodules such as Promotion Planning, Life Cycle Planning, Collaborative Planning, in the highranks gives Voyager Solutions a position well above the average, by almost 30 percent (figure 5). And itenables the solution to nearly complete all of the module’s functionality cycle. TEC Product Certification Report 17

  • 19. About Order ManagementA distributed order management system is a unique supply chain application. Generally, it cannot functionas a stand-alone solution, but it depends on integration with other systems to perform its functions. Itis as much a technology as an application. Why would a firm engage in the implementation of such asolution? The answer lies in that today’s order execution and fulfillment requires integration across multipleenterprises. Thus, firms need to implement software that enables business processes and data integrationin heterogeneous business and systems environments.According to the information shown in figure 6, Logility Voyager Solutions can cover the order managementprocess from Inventory to Shipping. Functionality in this area surpasses the average by more than25 percent. • 20. About Service Parts Planning Considering that some of the largest corporations in the world actually not only make their profit margins, but also form a two-to-ten year customer relationship from the service component of their business, the importance of service planning and management cannot be overlooked. As we know, customers may not buy from a firm again—regardless of the attractiveness of the product—if the service component of the relationship is not optimal. Service parts planning is a module designed to enable the creation of service centers, depots, and the positioning of the appropriate inventory and workforce capacity to meet outbound customer service requirements. This module can be a stand-alone software solution, a web-based network solution, or a module within a service and maintenance solution. It can integrate with service contract and maintenance agreement systems as well as maintenance systems, but it is not intended to play the role of those solutions. Significant complexity underlies the positioning service parts to support customers and meet service-level targets. The business benefits are tremendous both in cost management and customer satisfaction. As an average, Service Parts Planning is one of the less covered areas within the supply chain process, which involves extreme technical difficulties in the planning process and general analysis of logistics and serviced delivery. Logility Voyager Solutions stands by more than 25 percent above the average vendor (figure 7), which gives Logility the ability to strongly compete in this field.TEC Product Certification Report 20
