To whom it may concern,
I am writing this reference letter on behalf of Logan Henderson who has applied for the position
of Library Assistant at Colonial Heights Public Library.
Ms. Henderson is not only a great worker and loved by many, but she is also my mother. I have
watched a single mother work a job for many years and not only do a wonderful job, but also be
requested by many of the clients that operate within her sector. My mother is skilled in customer
service, data recording, filing, and time management, just to name a few.
As far back as I can remember, my mother has had a book in her hand. I am a college student
and I honestly can’t stand to even look at the cover of a book most of the time, but for my mother
it’s more than getting some self-satisfaction; it is a passion. I will go out on a limb and say I have
never met anyone, including my professors, that have read such an eclectic variety of book and
was able to retain such a substantial amount of information from said book. I have asked her on
more than one occasion to sum a book up for me and it is almost like she has a natural talent in
the ability to describe the characters or view point of the book without losing one’s attention.
Now, you may ask why these things make her a good choice for the job. It is simple, yet
complex, as most things are. I understand that this is likely a sought after position, but you will
not find a more qualified individual in this field. With the countless years of legal work,
customer service, money and time management, and most importantly, a passion for the art of
reading, I have often wondered why she never worked in this setting to begin with. I believe that
my mother is reaching a turning point in careers and this is the perfect fit. You will find that her
skills and curtesy make her a top candidate for the position of Library Assistant.
I would also like to add that considering my mother is a life-long resident of the City of Colonial
Heights, many people will walk into the Library knowing just what kind of quality service they
will be receiving. She is active in many things outside of her work, including helping, friends,
family, and strangers. Also, we have been member of the library since I was born twenty-one
years ago, and have been faithful customers ever since. Her ability to relate to the youth that may
be working during the summer months is another reason you can’t go wrong with this decision.
She may be stern and task oriented, but this is what makes a business successful and has made
her a top employer in job she is currently employed at. I know this may be bias because of my
ties to the applicant, but I can honestly say, there is no better person for this job and I would love
to see my mother working in her natural element. Take a chance on her and you will not be
disappointed. Thank you for your time and God bless.
