  • 1. Section B: Audience Research George Loftus
  • 2. Task 8: Questionnaire Review All of my questionnaires were answered fairly and I got an equal number of males and females to answer the questionnaire.
  • 3. Questions 1 – 2 Review
    • Question 1:
This shows that I asked a majority of people 90% were from the age range 16 – 25 because this is who I am aiming my magazine at.
      • Question 2:
    • Question 1:
This shows that there is a lot of people who don’t read music magazines, 14 out of 20 in fact, so I will try and make a magazine that will influence these people to read mine.
  • 4. Questions 3 -4 Review
    • Question 3:
The most preferred Genre is Indie with 11 out of 20 which is 55% showing it is a common favourite. The others stated were: Jazz and 60’s music.
    • Question 4:
Album Reviews received 50% answered in the questionnaire showing that people prefer this and it is a good feature to include in my magazine 10 4 2 3 1
  • 5. Question 5 – 6 Review
    • Question 5:
This shows that The audience prefers a monthly magazine with receiving 15/20 votes which gives it 75%. Question 6: Favourite artist: Arctic Monkeys The most popular artist was arctic monkeys which received 6 votes from the questionnaire. This means that I will include these in my magazine as more people will read it.
  • 6. Questions 7 -8 Review
    • Question 7:
As people have voted for a colourful Cover page I shall look at different ways to make my page interesting and unique through its colours.
    • Question 8:
More people are willing to pay for a magazine in the region of £2.01 - £3.00. I think this is a reasonable pricing as it does not put people out of pocket for a monthly magazine and you can make a decent profit form it.
  • 7. Questions 9 -10 Review
    • Question 9:
I will choose to go with primary colours even though this reached top marks it still will make the page look interesting and colourful.
    • Question 10:
A variety of cover lines came out favourite with 12/20 meaning that more people prefer different stories on the front cover to persuade them to buy the magazine.
  • 8. Task 9: Focus Group
    • I asked 6 people aged 16 -25 Three boys and three girls called, Hayden, James and Connor and Alison, Alison and Alice. All from a white background.
    • This age range was the most popular from my questionnaire and they gave their opinions on the magazine ideas.
    • The questions I asked follow…
  • 9. Questions…
      • What should I feature on my magazine?
      • They said that I should give details on new album releases as this is a popular feature that they enjoy. This will help me with what to put in my magazine.
      • They also said that I should include a lot of images because they attract younger audiences into the magazine.
      • What colours should I use?
      • They did not agree with my questionnaire’s answer from number 9 .(Would you prefer to have a Primary, Pastel or Black and White coloured font?) the answer was Primary. They believed that I should use more of a pastel based colours to go with the genre of the magazine as Indie is not a big bold Genre but more of a subtle and independent colour.
      • What is your favourite part of the Magazine?
      • They all answered with Band reviews and articles this does show that this is a particular popular answer as it received 4/20 in the questionnaire the second popular feature.
      • I will have to take into consideration the different views that these people have given.
  • 10. Answers…
    • This is going to affect my Magazine in the way that I am going to have to change certain aspects to suit both what my questionnaire said and what my Focus group said.
    • This means that one aspect that I will change is too put a variety of features in the magazine so that people will look at the other parts of the magazine and buy it.
    • Another aspect I will change due to my feedback from the focus group is that I will use both Primary and Pastel colours on my Music Magazine. This is because it matches the Indie feel about the magazine.
