Development - action researchLibraries Development Initiative• The Arts Council’s first specific funding initiative• Looking at innovative and sustainable new models of service delivery• 13 grants of up to £20k awarded in Feb 2012 and due to complete in March 2013• Applications were invited under the following four themes: New delivery models for arts Co-ordinating partnerships to achieve wider community and culture working together outcomes Books and reading Commercial partnerships

Development - research into Envisioning the libraryof the futureThis is a programme of research andconsultation which will help the ArtsCouncil develop a long-term vision forpublic libraries in England• The first phases of the consultationconsisted of: • Trends and innovation reviews • Delphi survey • Online conversation – www.librariesconversation.wordpress.com • 5 regional workshops with stakeholders• Currently in the last phase of theconsultation, holding workshops andonline conversation with the public Dalston Library, Hackney Photo: Michael Cameron Photography
