  • Hi Lloyd,

Thanks for sharing this. Lots of interesting and inspiring quotes. I also liked the way the symposium emphasised the contributions of teachers. Having re-joined the service after a 6 year hiatus...the messages that you shared are timely.

    Thanks again

An example of a growth mindset action would be to encourage the student to remember that basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work: brains and talent are just the starting point.

As we also gear ourselves to develop a growth mindset, we will share with you our experiences of developing our sense of purpose and motivations for what drives us as STs.
  • Notes
We come to the next segment on sharing with you our journeys as STs and LTs.

This quote by Aldous Huxley was chosen as we believe that we can learn through one another’s experiences.
It is not only about going through experiences, but what we choose to do with our experiences, as well as our mindset, which are crucial in our learning journey.

  • 14. Sense of purpose and Generativity (Mindset) Change your language and you change your thoughts. Change your thoughts and you change your world. Change the way you see things, and the things you see will change. Wayne Dyer A fixed mindset is one in which you view your talents and abilities as... well, fixed. In other words, you are who you are, your intelligence and talents are fixed, and your fate is to go through life avoiding challenge and failure. A growth mindset, on the other hand, is one in which you see yourself as fluid, a work in progress. Your fate is one of growth and opportunity.
  • 15. Developing a Growth Mindset 1 • Learn to hear your fixed mindset “voice”. 2 • Recognise that you have a choice. 3 • Talk back to it with a growth mindset voice. 4 • Take the growth mindset action. http://mindsetonline.com/changeyourmindset/firststeps/in dex.html
  • 16. Fixed vs Growth Mindset Statements Fixed Mindset • BT: I don’t have the capability and talent. • BT: I’m not ready for evaluation yet.
