Netiquette creates a peaceful internet environment.
  4. 4. • Plagiarism is taking full credit of work that is not your own. Plagiarism cheating in a way. It makes people think that you have written or thought of something that really you have just stolen from someone else. Plagiarism is stealing in a way. Plagiarism also has its consequences, for it is an act of felony and is against the laws and rules of professional ethics. Some people plagiarize without even meaning to. There are ways to avoid plagiarism and these steps should be heeded carefully.
  5. 5.  Word for word plagiarism has its definition in its name. It is taking the work of someone else, copying it exactly how it is, and taking all the credit. Everyone knows when they are committing this heinous act. It is copying and pasting. This is very wrong and should never be done.
  6. 6.  This is the very plagiarism that is very common because most people do not even know they are doing it. This is when one puts work into their own words but does not cite where they got their information from. All sources must be cited for work not to be plagiarized or copyrighted!
  7. 7.  Plagiarism is easy to find and even more easy to avoid. There are simple ways to avoid plagiarism including the following:  If you wish to use someone else’s ideas , thoughts, or information , you must put the words you wish to copy in “quotation marks.”  At the end of the sentence with quotation marks, cite where you got the information in (parentheses) and in a reference page.

  9. 9.  Copyrighted work is work that is being used without the original owner’s permission. Copyrighting is just as bad as plagiarism. This is just like cheating as well. One should not copyright nor use copyrighted information as their own. It can be hard to find information and pictures that are not copyrighted, but still one should always try, because copyrighting is wrong.
  10. 10.  In conclusion:  Netiquette is etiquette online. Proper netiquette should always be used while on the computer. There are basic rules in netiquette such as Don’t type in all caps, Be brief and universal, and always be kind to newcomers and to others.  Plagiarism is taking the full credit of work that is not your own. It is just like cheating and should always be avoided. There are two types of plagiarism; Word-for-Word and Paraphrased. Plagiarism can be avoided in simple ways and should be avoided.  Copyrighted work is work that is being used without the original owner’s permission. This also should always be avoided.
