  • 2. Fish are vertebrates  Fish have a thin skeleton inside, so they are vertebrates
  • 3. Fish are oviparous  Fish lay eggs in the water and baby fish hatch from them.
  • 4. Fish live in the water  Some fish live in rivers and lakes and other live in the ocean, but all fish need to live in the water
  • 5. Fish breathe with gills  Fish take the oxygen in water using gills  They don’t have lungs
  • 6. Body covered with scales  Fish have their body covered with scales
  • 7. No legs: Fins  Fish have no legs. They swim in the water using fins.  They have several fins on their body, the most important ones are lateral fins, dorsal fin (on the top) and caudal fin (the tail)
