How to be financially secure

  1. 1. How to be Financially Secure 7 Ways to Get You Sleeping Again
  2. 2. Invest in Yourself You can lose your job, but no one can take away your education or experience. Invest time and money in developing and maintaining your skills through classes, professional organizations, certifications – anything that keeps you up-to-date in your field.
  3. 3. Network Its not only WHAT you know, but WHO you know. Get to know people in your industry or the industry you want to be in. Don’t wait until you need a job to make connections.
  4. 4. Plan Your Future Successful people are goal oriented. Know what you want your future to look like and set goals to move you towards it.
  5. 5. Be Friends with Your Money Your friends make you feel good. You know all about them, what makes them tick. Treat your money the same way. Learn about financial management and investments. You’ll have more to enjoy.
  6. 6. Setup Your Emergency Fund You should have 6 months to 1 year of your monthly expenses set up for emergencies (losing your job). After you have your fund, you can begin your investment program.
  7. 7. Keep Your Debt Below 30% Your debt to income ratio should be less than 30% and should be mostly “good” debt. Good debt gives you something in return. A mortgage is an example of good debt.
  8. 8. Live on Less than You Earn As ridiculously simple as this sounds, many women (and men) are spending more than they earn. As you make more money, you can easily adjust your lifestyle upward!
