  • 2. Vermont was the 14th state to make its way into the United States. After Vermont became a state it was named “Vermont” which is French for Green Mountains. They named the state after Green Mountains because it has so many huge mountains.
  • 3.  After battling in the French and Indian War, Ethan Allen lived in Vermont. As the Revolutionary War began , he gathered the Green Mountain Boys and some Connecticut troops and helped obtain a British fort in Ticonderoga. In Ethan Allen`s later days he got captured trying to take Montreal .
  • 4.  Vermont is one of the smallest states, it is the fifth smallest state, but that doesn’t hold the people back. A lot of people go there because of the skiing. Vermont’s population is about 625,741.
