CNN's crisis reporting is mixed - it succeeds when explaining situations and offering guidance, but sometimes lacks objectivity and focuses too much on ratings. Specifically:
- Pre-9/11 and Katrina coverage failed to sufficiently investigate or warn of threats.
- Iraq invasion and 9/11 attack reporting informed viewers in real-time through on-the-ground reports.
- Oil spill and financial crisis coverage defined terms and issues, but primetime shows lack professionalism and evoke more emotion than analysis.
- After crises, CNN provides helpful information on moving forward, but could better prepare the public and continue fact-based reporting over ratings.

- conclusion of content-based analysis of CNN: we feel that CNN is a good new source, especially in times of breaking news and reporting after crises. - While its important for news coverage to be successful in its content, we believe that news coverage must be easily relayed to audiences in order for the news source to be successful overall. - TV: lack of professionalism, too neutral - Social Media- need to condense

Britany Doesn’t archive by date Better for up to the minute news reports Topic pages – confusing, multiple pages Ex. Presidential Inauguration CNN.com made it possible to watch the inauguration online By connecting the website to Facebook, the viewer's friends activities relating to the event were included in the sidebar CNN was able to report 600,000 status updates and record breaking 21.3 million video stream views globally on that day
Lauren 30 Twitter accounts Constantly re-tweeting at each other Social media is used to decide where and when they get the news, when CNN excessively tweets an individual feels bombarded and are no longer in control of their news consumption Twitter is good because it allows constant updates of situations however they have too many pages, making it confusing to know which cite to go to ex. Chilean miners
On October 12-13th alone posted 96 tweets regarding the Chilean Miners. within a matter of minutes
