2. What is it?
Research and planning refers to the stages that take
place before production of a media product begins, in
order to produce a successfully selling product.
This could be in the form of:
Market research (looking at what sells well and
finding out what people’s opinions are on the
particular product)
Producing storyboards (to briefly plan how the film
progresses)
Planning cinematography, editing, mise-en-scene
and sound elements.
3. Horror Research and
Planning
When planning to create a horror trailer there are
several research and planning stages:
Market research (finding out what people find
particularly frightening and what other films scare
audiences)
Producing a plot that is interesting as well as
terrifying.
Storyboarding the horror trailer so that it makes
people want to see the film without giving too
much information away.
Planning what cinematography, mise-en-scene,
editing and sound elements will be appropriate
for our chosen film narrative.
