COMPUTATIONAL SKILLS
Biostatistics
Deep knowledge of statistics applied to clinical observational, experimental studies and genetic association
studies.
- Observational and experimental study protocol writing,
- Quality control of high-dimensional datasets
- Descriptive statistics
- Multivariate data analysis: principal component analysis, cluster analysis
- Univariate inferential statistics: parametric and nonparametric test
- Longitudinal data analysis: multilevel model for change, survival analysis
- Meta-analysis
- Basic knowledge of Bayesian inference
Statistical software:
- Currently adopted: R (v 3.1.2), STATA (v. 13.0),
- Previously used: SPSS (v. 20.0), Epi Info 7
- Some knowledge of WinBUGS (v.1.4.3)
Bioinformatics
Deep knowledge of bioinformatics tools: sequence databases (Nucleotide, Protein, Genome, SNP),
haplotype analysis tools (HapMap, Haploview), basic local alignment tools (Blast, ClustalW), sequence
viewer (Chromas Lite). Basic knowledge of protein viewer tools (Swiss PDB-viewer).
Others: Excellent command of Microsoft Office™ tools (Word™, Excel™ and PowerPoint™) and Reference
Management software (Endnote, Mendeley).
