All existing profiles, including brands, will be offered a chance to switch over in the coming weeks. For now, the profile redesign is only applies to the desktop version of Twitter. On April 8, 2014, Twitter began rolling out a new design for web profiles. The new design will make it easier for brands to show off their best Twitter content and make it easier for web profile visitors to discover that content. " " Sources: 1. Bellona, David. “Coming soon: a whole new you, in your Twitter profile” The Official Twitter, 8 April. 2014. 2. “Your real-time public profile on Twitter” Twitter Advertising, April 2014 Redesign Features:! Brand Tweets 1.  Best Tweets: Tweets that get people talking are displayed at a larger size. 2.  Pinned Tweet: Highlight your brand’s best content at the top of the profile timeline. Brand Visual Elements 3.  Larger Profile Photo: Represent your brand with a bigger profile photo. 4.  Customized Header: Showcase your brand or current campaign with a large, rich image. User Filters 5.  Filtered Tweets: Users choose which timeline to view when checking out brand or other profiles - Tweets with photos/ videos, or Tweets and replies." " Implications for Brands! •  Twitter’s new profile design enables brands to highlight their most important Twitter assets to drive acquisition and engagement. •  “Best Tweets” provide brands with a clearer picture of how their content is performing in real-time. •  “Pinned Tweets” maximize the visibility of a brand's tweet over time. It gives brands an opportunity to make their highest priority message the first thing profile visitors see without paying to promote it. •  Twitter’s move to more robust profiles, akin to other social networks, suggests they are shifting toward building engaging communities vs a messaging platform. 1" 2" 5"3" 4" @Nike (https://twitter.com/nike )
