I participated in the Global Youth Village and it changed my life. It set the course for me to become someone who cared about my world and wanted to understand those who are different from me. This is not your typical summer camp- you get to spend time with kids from all over the world- hear other languages spoken, learn about their cultures and forge lifelong friendships. You will always have friends all over the world after a summer together at GVY. It will change your life and future forever!

I went to the GYV last year for the WELCOMING IRAQI YOUTH session and mashaAllah it was an experience of a lifetime. I got to learn so much about the Iraqi culture and the differences and similarities between us. The experience was a great one. Not one kid left that place with a DRY FACE!

The Global Youth Village is an excellent program, run by excellent people. Legacy International have years of experience in peace building, youth leadership and cultural exchanges. I strongly encourage you to check them out if you are interested in becoming a staff member or you know a young person that would be interested.

Every highschool student in the U.S. should have this experience.

The Global Youth Village remains close to my heart 10 years after my last visit. It is an EXCELLENT program that impacts both the youth and the staff in many ways. It is NOT summer camp, it is a intense cross cultural exchange with a ’Together We Can Make A Difference’ philosophy. It remains the most demanding ’job’ I’ve done, but with the most reward, also.

If you are looking for an intense, demanding, incredible, cross-cultural experience, and are willing to work hard, laugh a lot, learn a bunch, be flexible, meet amazing people with amazing stories, and want to make a positive difference, the GYV is waiting for you.

I would be wrong to forget the *food* aspect of the GYV. Delicious tasting food, 7 days a week, prepared with love. The dining hall experience is as much a part of the GYV as the workshops, the evening programs, and the cabins. The fact that the food is also so very very healthy for you is just an added bonus!
