Published on

In Sept 2013 certain areas of Colorado received a year's worth of rain in less than a week. A range of 200 miles and 17 counties were affected. These photos are of teams of people from Crossroads Church helping families in the first days of recovery efforts. Rebuilding will take a few years and many road ways, bridges and houses were destroyed.

  1. 1. Colorado  Flood  Relief   Sep  2013  Colorado  Floods.  It  rained  non-‐stop  for  several  days.  So  much  so  we   got  a  year’s  worth  of  rain  in  four  days.  It  was  just  a  taste  of  what  Noah  must   have  felt.  We  were  geEng  ready  to  build  an  ark.  (Photo  by  Michele  Gerbrandt)
  2. 2. Over  200  miles  of  flood-‐damage  in  17  counPes.  Over  $1  billion  of   road,  bridge  and  dam  and  home  damages.  1,700  people  lost  their   homes  with  over  17,000  having  been  flood  damaged.  Although  our   church  and  area  was  not  directly  hit.  We  looked  for  immediate   opportuniPes  to  partner  with  neighboring  towns  and  churches.
  3. 3. A  river  formed  on  this  Longmont  neighborhood  and   effected  every  house  along  these  streets.     Photo  taken  by  Michele  Gerbrandt.
  4. 4. We  partnered  with  Pastor   Bob  Balance  from  Pine   Street  Church  in  Boulder,   CO.  Our  first  home  was   helping  in  the  basement   of  Bob  and  Joann  Stacy.   They  had  already  been   working  Prelessly  to  get   their  basement   disassembled  before     mold  sets  in.     Photo  by  Michele   Gerbrandt
  5. 5. This  shows  the  water  level  at   the  Stacy's  home  in  their   basement.  The  insurance   adjuster  measured  78  inches   high.  Their  beds  and   furniture  were  bobbing  in  the   the  muddy  water.  They  even   found  frogs  when  the  water   drained.   Photo  taken  by     Michele  Gerbrandt
  6. 6. There  actually  is  carpet  under  the  mud.   Every  piece  of  furniture  had  to  be  tossed.
