German Expressionism In the very early stages of film German expressionism as there was no major technology they were basic films that were created by lighting, homemade props and often painted shadows on set, which helped to convey a deeper meaning and mise en scene within the film. These films were the stepping stone of horror and slasher films. Two genres that were especially influenced by Expressionism are horror film and film noir and are widely used when creating horror and slasher films.
The majority of my target audience responded to cinema as being the primary source of their film consumption. This indicates to me that the trailer for the film should be highly promoted in the cinema however DVD’s come in second also suggesting that I should maybe release a DVD after the film has been has been shown. Internet downloads and television are equal in percentage although the lowest they are still a accessible source which my target audience will be engaged in.
The majority of my target audience (40%) favoured going to the cinema once a week suggesting that my trailer will be aired during the week preferably on a Wednesday as Orange have 2for1 deals so more teenagers will visit the cinema. Audience that responded that they visit the cinema every few months (35%) tells me that my trailer has to be screened a few months before its release so that I maximise my chances of having a wider audience.
The majority of my audience 81% stated that they did not purchase merchandise but I feel there is a flaw in this question as I did not specify the different types that fall under the merchandise category so the consumers may not perceive a t-shirt  as merchandise so I will further still make merchandise in the subsidiary market of my film production although a small percentage 19% did say they purchased merchandise so there is still and audience therefore reinforcing that I should still make it. Also most of the success of major blockbusters suggest that they come from the subsidiary market.
The audience responded highly (65%), suggesting that they mostly enjoy films that are in 2D so I will create my film in 2D I asked a few peers what they thought about 3D slasher films and they found that it spoiled the experience as they were taken away from the storyline due to all the effects, however there is still a percentage of 35% which means there are still an audience I can target so I will consider and option of 2D and 3D showings.
A large quantity of my target audience specially selected the range of  £5-10 for their purchasing of a DVD this again reinforces me to promote, market and release a DVD after the film is aired within the cinema. This information also gives me a guideline into how much to sell it for. 30% said that they would spend over £10 for a DVD meaning to attract that audience I may have Blu-ray and special effects to give value to the customer so they have a great home experience.
My target audience favoured highly in watching either of a 15 or 18 certificate film which showed me that the content in the film hardly differs  again strengthening my belief. Although the 18 certificate rating had a higher percentage than 15 it shows me that teenagers want to more explicit and frightening scenes.
My target audience primarily chose full time education as their occupation this explains to me that their disposable income will be limited, further explaining that I may need to release films during school holidays in order to attract them more easily, a small percentage again said they had a part time job suggesting some variance in income. An even smaller percentage said they did not have any employment again I will have to take into consideration the prices of merchandise and tickets.
My audience profile consists of teenagers who are my primary audience although horror fanatics and fans of the director or actors are part of my wider audience, I have found that students will not have lot of disposable income informing me to research more into finding the right price range in order to attract the full audience.
