Dc Dragonboat Club 2009 - Presentation Transcript

    1. DC Dragon boat Club
    2. What is Dragon boating?
      • Dragon Boat Racing is a 2000 year old Chinese water sport.
      • 16- 20 paddlers fill a 45-foot-long boat decorated with a dragon head and tail.
      • Most races are 250 meters and 500 meters but can go up to 2000 meters in other countries.
      • Festivals bring a sense of culture and camaraderie to more than just your team.
      • AND… its great exercise for your mind, body and soul…
    3. Benefits:
      • Enjoy the fulfilling benefits of being a part of a team.
      • Help bring attention to the club and the sport as a whole.
      • Strengthen your body from the exercise it provides.
      • Get a chance to visit new places across the country or around the world by sharing something that others enjoy.
      • Make new friends.
      Make it a family activity!
    4. Ithaca, Ny 2009
      • The team travelled to Ithaca, New York in July for their Dragon Boat Festival at the Finger Lakes.
      • After a few mishaps with walls and lots of rain, the team was still in high spirits, though we didn’t place for medals.
      • We’ll get them next year!
      • Even other teams were in good spirit (Gotham Thunder)
    5. The races at Ithaca… Baltimore Dragon Boat Club!
      • When not racing, enjoy time with the team…
    6. After the races, take time to explore the area you’re visiting…
    7. Baltimore, Md 2009
      • In August, the team was invited to a small scrimmage at the Baltimore Harbor with various teams on the coast.
      • The Baltimore Dragon Boat Club hosted the event and it was tons of fun for all the teams.
      • We were a fraction of a second from winning a bronze, but the races were tough and we proved to be excellent competition for the other teams.
    8. Now let’s do some stretches… ...or dance instead…
    9. And the race is on… That was a close one! Now cheer on and thank the other teams for a great race!
      • Now its time to relax …
And maybe get a diabolo lesson from Craig… Or…join the massage train…
