  2. 2. Vocabulary. ● Earthquake -> An earthquake is caused by a sudden slip on a fault. The tectonic plates are always slowly moving. An earthquake releases energy in waves that travel through the earth's crust.
  3. 3. Landslide - > is a geological phenomenon which includes a wide range of ground movements, such as rock falls, failure of slopes and deep shallow debris flows.
  4. 4. A flood -> is a natural event that can have far reaching effects on people and the environment. is an overflow of water that submerges land which is usually dry.
  5. 5. Volcano -> is an opening, or rupture, in the surface or crust of the Earth , which allows hot lava, volcanic ash and gases to escape from the magma below the surface.
  6. 6. Tsunami in Japan japan tsunami was the largest and most catastrophic of the moment. There have been 20,896 dead, 3,084 missing and 6,025 injured
  7. 7. What is a tsunami? ● A tsunami from Japan, is a series of water waves caused by the displacement of a large volume of a body of water.
  8. 8. Effect of the tsunami ● On March 11, 2011 with memorial ceremonies, speeches and promises. More than 300,000 people are still in temporary housing and nearly all the country’s nuclear power plants are closed.
