  • 3. 1: TABI: The AgroBioDiversity Initiative GOAL: to raise the status/role of AgroBioDiversity and AgroEcoSystems in the development process and for poverty reduction. HOW ? Supporting and facilitating initiatives and projects related to ABD in agriculture, forest and aquatic ecosystems. FALUP: Supports/facilitates LUP which: 1: includes indigenous agriculture and village forest management. 2: Is realistic, practical and will actually be used by the villages. Target Areas: Currently : Luang Prabang and Xieng Khouang Provinces 315.10.2012

Land use planning process of TABI by TABI Land use planning process developed i: Preparation of SIM and 2.5 D Topo During wet season 1: Development of Village Base-Geo Map 4 day/1 village = 1 2: Village Boundary Mapping mth for 8 villages 3: Data Collection: socio-economic, NR 6 day/1 village = 1.5 mth for 8 villages 4: Current Land/forest use Mapping 5: Village-District review-strategy meeting Preparation: 1 week, meeting: 1 day 6: Land Management Zonation Mapping 6 day/1 village = 1.5 mth for 8 villages Timing - Scheduling ? 1: do not conduct all tasks in 1 village first, then move to all task in next village, etc 2: Do some tasks in all villages, then next tasks in all villages, etc 13 > Example: 8 village Goomban: Task1&2=1.35 mth, Task 3 &4=1.5 mth,15.10.2012 Task 6 = 2 mth = 5 months for full Goomban.
  • 14. 3: Development of vFALUP Process Initially (2009-2010) followed the green PLUP manual Then saw that this was unsatisfactory for various reasons and started to develop improved process. Key aspects of improved process: • Work in all villages of a Goomban • Start village networking from the beginning • Make repeated missions to village - each mission focus on 2 aspects of LUP • Ensure focus on current land use and forest cover 1415.10.2012

Process of the Village Forest and Agriculture Land Use Planning ( FALUP) Mission : Village Base-Geo Mapping, and Village Boundary Mapping ans Agreemtn Mission 2: ABD and SE Data collection, current land use and forest assessment/ mapping Workshop: (i) review CLU, and developed strategy for (ii)land use planning and zoning. Mission 3: Forest and Agriculture Land Management Zonation and Planning 15 Workshop: (i) Review/discuss on FALUP, (ii)15.10.2012 Accept the result of FALUP
