Celebrating 40 Years
“ Professional growth comes through our conscientious efforts to make available for ourselves the many opportunities for improving our competence and instruction; for broadening our minds and our outlook; for developing our personalities.” Liz Dowdeswell (SHETA President 1968/69)
What is a STF Special Subject Council?….
The general purpose of subject councils is to provide opportunities for the professional development of their members. Special subject councils have been established in a variety of subject fields, service areas and interdisciplinary groups. The 32 councils that are affiliated with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation have approximately 7,000 memberships in total.
Many special subject councils offer beginning teachers a complimentary one-year membership
The success of the program is measured by teacher interest in becoming members and taking an active role in the work of the councils. Membership is not limited to teachers, but includes any person with a professional interest in the activities of the councils.
