  • About me – 18 years in Financial Services sector / 13 years in variety of L&D roles /In current post for 15 months / Worked with eLearning for around 8 years. Learning & development needs are much the same – less money! More innovative with learning solutions – makes for a better solution! 1 st task – research use of eLearning @ BHCC and write our strategy for future use
  • No longer just about sitting at your computer and completing an eLearning module with a test at the end . Any learning supported by technology. Widely recognised that informal learning is being embraced by all generations – so much information to retain these days we need to know where to get what we need, when we need it. This is done online more and more e.g. Google, online communities using Social Media, UTube, Podcasts etc
  • Learning Pool – under used – couple of original IDEA modules – stand alone
  • Bespoke – early days - using Captivate – now Learning Pool authoring tool – template driven with option to import Flash etc
  • 1000 accounts – time consuming admin, time constraints on completion, accessibility, delivered via web page rather than Surf2Learn - can’t meet demand Duplication of effort – confusion for staff, development and delivery costs, data in more than place HR systems – accuracy of staff data, reporting difficult – Directorates etc, no automatic access for new starters
  • 17 modules – full fact finding exercise to build business case, learning objectives, scope (audience) - Learning Pool 1 st –- quite often get 70% of content = bespoke, brand and instructional design standards. Otherwise we work with SME to script and then develop in 3 stages. Rapid eLearning.

  • As well as demand for bespoke eLearning – want to take a more strategic approach to our Corporate Offering. Blended learning - through experience take up is higher if understand relevance in terms of their roles and the organisation / integrated into existing Learning & Development Programmes
  • Phase 1 in progress DLE – overcome challenges such as accessibility and demand (all staff), data from HR system - eventually integrate Content – Induction, Compliance/Legislation (DPA, E&D, H&S), ICT, Basic Communication Skills, external bespoke
