6. Poster
• In academic world one of the usual ways of
presenting projects, reseach results etc.
• Summarizes the most important facts about your
project in (visually and verbally) clear form.
• Usually posters are read from 1,5 meters and in 11
seconds people make the decision to read it through
(based on the visual appearence)

• Title (interesting, explanatory, not too long)
• Names of the writers, studies and the organization
• Introduction
– Basic information, backgroung and main goals of the project (the
theoretical framework can have it’s own paragraph)
• Implementation
– The main phases and actions of the project (tables and graphics can
make it more clear)
• Results
– 1-3 main results of the project (tables or graphics?)
• Discussion/Conclusion
– The results compared to the background, goals and implementation
– Meaning of the project, sustainability and ideas for future
development
• References

8. When designing a poster
Pay attention to:
• Content
– You can’t include everything so you really need to know, what’s
important
– Titles should be interesting and informative
• Style
– Should fit the content, client’s image and your own taste of style
– Colourful is good, but too much is too much
– The fonts (readability and style)
• Different elements
– Make sure that pictures are clear and usable
– Usually people notice tables and figures before body text
– You can highlight or clarify contents with bullets, text boxes, lines,
boldings, italics…

• Presented shortly to your client and to other students on
3rd of May
• Are done in English
• Size: A0 (841 x 1 189 mm)
• Includes the logos of LET, UO and the client
• Final versions should be sent in PDF-form to Venla by
Thursday 25th of April.
• If you want some comments about your poster from your
instructor before that, send your working version by
Thurday 18th (to Venla) or Sunday 21st (to Aino-Maaria)
and you will get the comments during the next day.
